HELP with Archie the rabbit's foot

Recommended Posts

I am fairly new to knitting and self taught. I do not understand the shaping for the foot on Archie from the woodland toys supplement from Let's Knit magazine. Can anyone help please? I have managed the first part but then it says pick up and knit 8 stitches along side of foot. I can't work out where to pick up the stitches!

HI and welcome to the forum. I haven't got the supplement in front of me but can only guess. when it says pick up sts from side of foot I'm guessing you can cast on at "heel" and work up to toes. Therefore you will need to pick the sts up from row ends which will be side of foot.

Let me know how you get on

Hi thanks for your reply. I have (I hope) attached a file with a pic if where I am up to. Don't know where to pick the stitches up and then how to carry on with stitches on both needles! Hope someone can help as I really want to get on with it!

Hi Katkinnie,

Now, you need to cut your yarn - leave a bit of a tail so it won't unravel.

Slip the six stitches you've just worked on to your LH needle.

You need to rejoin the yarn in the first stitch of your first heel row.

Then continue picking up stitches up the side of the heel flap section.

I made up a diagram for another reader, which I've attached here.

Do you want to take a look and see if it makes things a bit clearer for you?

Thanks

Adrienne
