  • Cushion pad, 35cm x 55cm

  • Cushion: 38cm x 58cm
  • Card: 10.5cm x 15cm
instructions
  1. Welcome Cushion - 1. Choose a clear font from the ScanNCut library and type out the first letter of the word ‘Welcome’. Resize the letter to 8.5cm tall and use as a guide to how much of the word you will be able to fit on one line. Arrange the rest of the letters in the same size on the screen. Use the flip function to make them a mirrored version.

    2. Cut and press a piece of cotton print fabric large enough to accommodate the letters. Fix fusible adhesive sheet to the back of the panel with a hot iron and remove the backing paper. Smooth the fabric, face down, onto a cutting mat and use a new blade to cut the letters from the material.

    3. Take a panel of lightly patterned fabric, 26cm x 46cm, and lay the letters out in a smooth curve. Fix in place by pressing with a hot iron to activate the adhesive before using a neat zigzag stitch to secure them.

    4. Make 32 6cm squares of cotton print fabric. Sew right sides together into two strips of seven squares and two strips of nine squares. Edge the top and bottom of the appliqué panel with the nine square strips and add the seven square strips to each side.

    5. Cut 3cm wide strips of fabric and sew around the edges of the patchwork to make an overlapped border. Press the work before pinning onto a panel of lightweight quilt wadding. Topstitch along the main seam lines, trim the wadding to the same size as the panel and zigzag stitch around the edges.

    6. Take plain fabric, 39cm x 59cm. Cut a 4cm x 39cm strip from one end and stitch a zip between the two pieces. Pin the zipped back to the appliquéd front, right sides together, and sew all the way round, opening the zip slightly before finishing the seams. Turn the cover right sides out through the open zip and press. Topstitch along the inner edge to create an Oxford border.

  2. New Home Greeting - 1. Cut an 8.5cm x 12.5cm panel of cotton print fabric and glue to blue card, trimming to leave a 3mm border all round. Mount this to the centre of a cream card blank, 10.5cm x 15cm, with foam pads.

    2. Choose a typeface from the ScanNCut library and type out ‘New Home’. Resize the letters to 3cm tall. Select a key motif from the library and add to the screen before cutting all elements from blue card. Arrange the letters across the top of the card and glue in place, then use foam pads to secure the motif below the greeting.
