    Goodbye Forum Challenge!

Hello jewellery makers! We're mixing things up here at M&SJ HQ. The Forum Challenge is no longer, but don't fret - we'd still love to include your makes in the magazine! Simply share your designs on the Make & Sell Jewellery Magazine section and let us know how you made it, why you love jewellery making etc. Can't wait to see what you've been creating, Rosie, Editorial Assistant
  12. Hello everyone, As the M&SJ office will shortly be closing for Christmas, we are putting up our next forum challenge for our February issue (issue 58), on sale on 28th December, a little earlier than usual. This issue is based around Valentine's Day, with statement beaded hearts, boho leather pendants and cute silver cutlery charms to make, plus exclusive copyright free designs, tips on writing a business plan and much more! All you have to do to enter is: * Produce a jewellery make based around the main theme of Valentine's Day, or one of the other themes or projects within the magazine. This means that you can either enter your own unique creation, or a piece based on one of the projects featured in this month's issue. * Feel free to use any beads in your stash and try out different techniques too! * We ask that you post a well-lit, good-quality picture in this thread, with a little explanation about how you created your entry and any details about the beads and techniques used. * One entry per person please (overseas entrants welcome). Challenge closes at 5.30pm on 3rd Fbebruary 2014. The winner will be announced shortly after and a fresh challenge will be opened for the new issue. And the winner will receive a lovely beady goodie bag and appear on the Your Space page within the magazine! Any questions, please feel free to email me at melissa@aceville.co.uk. We look forward to seeing your entries! Melissa Hyland Deputy Editor
  13. Hello everyone, It's time to announce the winner of the Make & Sell Jewellery forum challenge for issue 57 (January '14), which had the New Year as its main theme. Christmas can be a hectic time that doesn't leave a lot of spare time for beading, so we'd like to thank everyone who were able to send in their entries. There were some lovely glitzy designs, perfect for any party, and the winner is maillemanz with her gorgeous Shooting Star necklace. "I have wire wrapped lots of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS crystals with ball pins and added silver-plated chains to make this focal pendant. This can slide onto a cord with the sturdy jump ring at the back," she explains. We love the bright colours and the tail of trailing chains - well done, your beady goodie bag will be in the post soon. Don't forget, you can still enter our latest forum challenge for issue 58 (February '14), which is based around Valentine's Day, the perfect opportunity to create some romantic designs. You'll find it here at http://www.homecraftforums.com/topic/49955-make-sell-jewellery-issue-58-forum-challenge-closes-at-530pm-on-3rd-february-2014/ Happy beading! Melissa Hyland Deputy Editor

  16. Hello everyone! We are delighted to announce the winner of the Make & Sell Jewellery forum challenge for issue 54! Inspired by the colours and motifs of Autumn, we had some beautiful entries and we'd like to thank everyone who took part. And the winner is - Diane's Designs, with her beautiful Sunflower brooch. Inspired by these gorgeous, OTT blooms, she used black plastic 2mm rondelles in the middle, attached to a black wire spiral, plus gold colour seed beads and 1mm wire for the leaves, woven with 0.4mm gold coloured wire. This would be perfect to brighten up a winter coat and remind us that though summer is over for no, it will be back before we know it. So congratulations Diane (and don't forget to email your name and address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize). Meanwhile, there's still time to enter our latest challenge for issue 55, at http://www.homecraftforums.com/topic/49449-make-sell-jewellery-issue-55-forum-challenge-closes-at-530pm-on-3rd-november2013/. Happy beading! Melissa Hyland Deputy Editor
  17. Hello everyone! The Make Jewellery forum challenge for issue 50 is now over, so it's time to announce our winner. The main theme for this issue was men's jewellery, perfect with Father's Day coming up on 16th June. More and more guys are wearing accessories these days, and though it can be tricky creating something to suit their tastes, it can also be a fun challenge. We have now selected our winner - so it's congratulations to Dragonf1ysun, who will be delighting some lucky fella with her fabulous pin-up girl cufflinks! This was her own design made from polymer clay, using an image transfer technique to decorate the main part with retro-style cheesecake images. Meanwhile, the button at the back is also made from a teal and white polymer clay sandwich in an oval shape and the cufflinks are connected together with brass chain and findings. So well done Dragonf1ysun (and don't forget to send your full name and address to me at melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize). In the meantime, we have a new challenge for Make Jewellery issue 51, which is on sale now and is themed around festival fashion - visit http://www.homecraftforums.com/topic/48567-make-jewellery-issue-51-forum-challenge-closes-at-530pm-on-8th-july-2013/ to find out more. Happy beading! Melissa Hyland Deputy Editor
