  2. Hi all, I have no idea if this is the right forum to ask a few questions, but hopefully you'd be kind and redirect me if I got it wrong (just to let you know: English is not my first language, so I apologise in advance for any mistakes). I'll try to keep my story short: out of boredom, I started to play with clay and Powertex and plaster about a year ago and made a few objects initially just for my home. Some of my friends saw my 'creations' and asked me to make some for them (which I did!) and told me I should try and sell them (I've made quite a few and at the moment I have so many around the house and no idea what to do with them). Most of them are in clay, sand and Powertex (stone art) that I then paint with acrylics to make it look like bronze. - I have at least 12 other in this style; I also have a few in air-drying clay and plaster of Paris: What I need from you all is an honest opinion about my stuff. Do you think it would sell and should I give it a try? Or should I just continue to do them just for my enjoyment and give them away or put them in the bin (quite a few ended up in there already). The thing is, apart from 2 sessions of Powertex and many hours of youtube, I've never trained in anything arts&crafts and I have no idea if I'm using the right techniques and so I don't know if my amateurish creations are marketable. Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I'd love to hear some feedback from you. Ellie

  4. Hello everyone; what an adventure this is for a social networking newbie. However, I'm sure I shall emerge from the fog full of inspiration :-) My main interest is sewing at which I hope to improve my skills and judging from what I have managed to read so far, the site seems to be a hive of activity, great skill and knowledge. My mother was a tailor and my grandmother an enthusiastic needlewoman both of whose endeavours to pass on their skills to me did not meet with much dedication. Not being artistic or very imaginative I have to slavishly follow sewing patterns , rather than be able to free cut and sew to fit, so any advice or references available to be gleaned would be extremely appreciated :-)

    Festive Treats

We're in full Christmas swing at HQ currently and I've been really inspired by all the exciting makes we have lined up. Which got me thinking about setting myself a festive craft challenge, to make my very own gingerbread house. It's not something I've attempted before, so I wondered if any of you had any good tips and advice, or a tried and tested recipe? Thank you
