Knitted hats for our soldiers serving in Afghanistan

Sorry Goose can't give you any details, it was a personal request made to my friend by a soldier visiting her to pick up quilts that had been made for soldiers serving in Afghanistan. She is going to pass on any hats that are knitted. Thank you Victoria for the information you have given will keep my eye open to see if you get any more info. Roytal British Legion is only info I have. Crafty Stiches in Northwich and Hopmarket wools, Liverpool are the only two shops I have seen online who have participated. I know dark colours are specified but the soldier who spoke to my friend wanted bright colours and they will only be used to sleep in. I know light colours are not used when on patrol. Thank you all. Knitted hats for our soldiers serving in Afghanistan

Thank you all, it is good to know I am not alone in trying to help, and thank you for welcoming me to the forum. . Met four friends for Christmas lunch today and they are all going to knit. Yippee. Gene
  3. Our soldiers serving in Afghanistan often have to sleep in tents. Imagine how cold that must be. I have a friend who makes patchwork quilts and she was visited by three soldiers who came to pick up some quilts she had made for them. One said to her "what we could do with is knitted hats to sleep in". So I am asking everyone I know to help by knitting hats for our boys. Your local British legion should be able to help if you need more info. Happy Christmas knitting gene1genie
