instructions
  1. Chicken cone - 1. Copy the cone template onto both plain stock and decorative paper. Make a scalloped edge on the bottom of the decorative paper. Join the two cones together with glue, then make two slits, 1cm long, at the top of the cone at opposite ends.

    2. Cut out wings, a wattle, and a beak and comb from co-ordinating papers. Push the latter into the slits on the cone, then glue the wattle below. Create eyes and attach either side of the beak. Fix the wings to the sides.

    3. If desired, punch a small hole in the top of the comb and feed thread through for hanging. Create another hole in the base of the comb, insert thread, and fix a pair of feet to the bottom of the cotton.

  2. Cockeral cone - 1. Make a chicken cone as before. Create tail feathers by cutting narrow strips from contrasting decorative papers in differing lengths. Trim the ends into points. Layer three strips on top of each other, then secure with glue. Repeat three times.

    2. Using the edge of a pair of scissors and your thumb, curl each of the feathers separately. Glue them to the back of the cone in a row. Cut a small semi-circle from matching paper and attach over the bottom of the feathers to hide the join.

  3. Good luck card - 1. Make a side-folding card from pink paper. Face the front with decorative paper, topped with a square of yellow. Cut a strip of green and fix to the bottom of the yellow.

    2. To make the chickens, cut two triangles and snip the pointed tops off. Cut a wing, eye, and a comb and beak for each one. Assemble all the components together, then draw a line around each element with a fine black pen.

    3. Attach them to the face of the card and draw on pairs of legs. Write a message onto a strip of green paper, trim to size, and attach to the bottom of the card. CB
