Writing shopping lists and doing homework will soon become a pleasure if using one of our tactile notebook covers. Choose from two fab designs, or why not make them both! Little additions of buttons and ribbon also help to add a stunningly professional finish.

A6 notebook

With yellow yarn make 25 ch. Starting with second st from hook, work 1 dc in each st. (24 sts) 1 ch (turning chain) turn work, 1 dc in each st to end. (24 sts) Rep last row until work meas 22cm; fasten off. With green yarn, work 1 dc in each st around the edge, work 2 dc on each corner st; fasten off.

buttonhole loop

With green yarn 25 ch.
Starting with second st from hook work 2 dc in each st to end; fasten off.

making up

Stitch a button in place then add the loop in position and weave in loose ends.
Cut green felt into two 4cm x 16cm strips. Stitch to the outermost edges of the cover to act as flaps to hold the book.

A5 notebook

With pink yarn make 35 ch.
Starting with second st from hook, work 1 dc in each st till end. (34 sts).
1 ch (turning chain) turn work, 1 dc in each st to end. (34 sts).
Rep the last row alternating between pink and purple yarn every three rows.
Cont till work meas 34cm.
With purple yarn, work 1 dc in each st around the edge, work 2 dc on each corner st; fasten off.

making up

Cut pink felt into two 8cm x 23cm strips and stitch to outermost edges of the covers to act as flaps to hold the book.
Snip pink ribbon into two 10cm lengths and stitch to the felt in the centre to form ties.
