I recently bought the Double-Do XL from Efco Crafts. It also has its own line of templates and embossing plates and I really like it’s durability. The craft store said it is compatible with other products such as Cuttlebug, Cricut and co. I would like to know if anyone has this product and has actually used Cuttlebug products with the Double-Do. I am afraid of investing in expensive templates before knowing.

Thanks a lot!

Welcome craftaddict66.
I only have the cuttlebug, but have heard of the Double duo. Have you asked at the store where you purchased it if it will take the CB embossing folders? I would think that if you had the right spacers/plates it would work provided the duo is wide enough for the folders to fit.
Maybe someone will come along who has the Dduo with some other advice.

Yes you can use the cuttle bug dies and quickutz and the sizzlets in the machine
You my need a shim with the quickutz but these dies are interchangable and work with each of the other machines, i.e. side kick, cuttle bug, big kick zip-e-mate
Hope this is of help

Thank you for the welcome and for the input!

I found out… it is a width and patience problem.

Believe it or not, I got stubborn today and decided to risk it and buy a Cuttlebug embossing folder. (I thought if it did not work out, I could always try to sell it on the well-known online marketplace).

I have Double Do plates and I have Cuttlebug plate “b”. I tried out the different plates to see what happens. Anyway, the results are fantastic. It does work and you have to combine a “b” Cuttlebug plate with the grey Double-Do plate to get the best results. I was so excited. The Cuttlebug Folders are flexible, which also appealed to me.

I also bought a cutting template from Cuttlebug. It did not work out with the Double-Do as it was too thick, but I think it is a matter of finding a plate with the proper width.

I also have a few Fiskars Texture Plates. I got curious. They also work with the Double-Do but could crack at the top (where the holes are to add to the Shape-Boss) so I would not suggest it, really. They are not really flexible like the Cuttlebug Folders. But once cracked, and taped together, the Texture Plates worked fine. It was as if the crack took the “pressure” off of the plate.

Oh, I almost forgot…

Fergie could you be so nice to tell me which plates you used with the Sizzlets. I tried them today as well and they were too thick. I cannot figure out the right combination - even tried cardboard mats and Ikea thin and flexible kitchen cutting boards.

Welcome craftsaddict and fergie nice to hear from you.
I have sizzlets for my cuttlebug and you need to use A,B,and then C
as it’s slightly thicker , they come out perfect with me.

Thank you for the information. I have the “b” plate… can you tell me how thick the “a” and “c” plates are? Have not seen any of those around here. May have to order them, if necessary.

The A plate is the really thick spacer one that you put the B plate on top of.
the C plate is in between the 2, thicker than than B plate,
