Hello everyone,

Welcome to the latest MJ forum challenge for issue 35! All you have to do to enter is:

* Produce a jewellery make based around the main themes of spring and Mother’s Day, or one of the other themes or projects in the magazine. This means that you can either enter your own unique creation, or a piece based on one of the projects featured in this month’s issue.

* Feel free to use any beads in your stash and try out different techniques too!

* We ask that you post a well-lit, good-quality picture in this thread, with a little explanation about how you created your entry and any details about the beads and techniques used.

* One entry per person please (overseas entrants welcome). Challenge closes at 5.30pm on the 1st March 2012. The winner will be announced shortly after and a fresh challenge will be opened for the new issue. And the winner will receive a lovely beady goodie bag and appear on the ‘Your Space’ page within the magazine!

Any questions, please feel free to email me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). We look forward to looking at your entries!

Hi everyone,

Here is my Spring themed entry. Luckily for me I made it as soon as I bought the spring issue, with the challenge in mind, because my hand slipped while opening a link on the chain & my pliers went straight through the base of my thumb. Ouch! I haven’t been able to make anything since, although thankfully it’s on the mend now.

Turquoise & Ruby Flower Charm Bronze Necklace
I used Lucite flowers/freshwater pearls (turquoise), Swarovski crystals/glass pearls (ruby), antique bronze: chain, toggle, bead cones, beads.

Looking forward to seeing all the entries & hope no-one else suffers any injuries in the process.

Tracey smile

Here’s my cute spring time creation. Full of baby animals and pretty flowers smile x

Its made out of various colours of Fimo clay baked in the oven, I used lots of texture tools to try and give my little critters fur etc.
I rolled roses from thin layers of red fimo then made ickle leaves. I don’t know what my technique is called, I just have a go! smile

I did place headpins through the centre of each bead to be able to attach it to the bracelet and used tiny seed beads and one pretty green swarovski crystal for the swirl bead on the end.

There are more pics on my blog, I couldn’t fit anymore in as I reached the 2mb limit. x

I was inspired by Lisa Steed Davey’s first class project. I coated some stamps in PVA glue and allowed to dry. I then set them in resin with some silver and black seed beads. I then added a funky purple chain and some pearls to co-ordinate with the stamps!!

these are called ‘dewfall’ as it reminds me of dewdrops falling off the flowers

these were simply made using blue glass beads then copper tulip bead caps then attached to ear-hooks.

Hi all,

I discovered ‘Make Jewellery’ some weeks ago during a short visit to Dublin.
Now I regularly visit the website from Spain wink

I’d like to show you a piece of jewellery I recently made with spring on my mind.
It was actually the first time I used wire to join beads, but I’m really happy with the result. What do you think?

I had all the materials in my stash, so I just chose some beads that would combine in colour: blue, brown, white and silver.
I was looking for an asymmetrical casual look so it was pretty easy to wire the beads together. I had no pattern in my mind so I just kept wiring in & out the small holes in the ring base.

Hope you like it!

Maria Dolores

Here is my entry based around the themes of spring and Mother’s Day.
I made the flower beads using 4 different sized and colours of beads and used them as the main part of the necklace, i have done it in spring like colours and that along with the hand made beaded flowers and the other flowers i feel it has the spring feel to it smile
