Exciting news everyone, it’s none other than World Card Making day this Saturday! So, to celebrate the occasion, we decided to set a special challenge.

Make a card with a world theme (you can interpret this however you wish) and post a picture of it here as well as a little explanation on your theme.

The challenge closes on Monday 3rd October, 5PM (UK time) so you have one week to get crafting!

Good luck everyone, can’t wait to see what you’ll make. grin

Don’t forget to have a look at the picture of the prize to see the yummy goodies up for grabs!

Here is my little circular (as is the earth) card. I thought that the whole of the earth was difficult to represent, but I tried my best. I immediately thought of space travel (maybe because they recently closed the USA space programme down) and remembered watching past rocket launches on television. I’ve had some space travel paper for ages too, so I wanted to use that. I often think of how the earth looks from space (not that I’ve been!) and thought it would be nice to include the earth as a map with word stickers and bubble postage stamps for countries. There’s a flower soft rocket and some stars too. The inside is also decorated, but this concentrates on other planets that are waiting to be discovered and how they might look when viewed from earth through a telescope. I went for a bit of a distressed look here.
Er, it was a bit dull inside so I photographed them on the clothes line. Well, at least it was in the air…

Hi there.  I’m completely new to this game and just hope you can read this?  I was looking through a Crafts Beautiful Magazine and thought maybe I should ‘Register’ with them!  I started making cards about five years ago and have had the ‘bug’ ever since.  I assumed that now being retired I would have loads of time to sit all day making cards but, unfortunately, that isn’t so!!  I live with my husband Tom who puts up with my moans and groans when a card hasn’t turned out right….  We also have two large dogs, four cats and two parrots - quite a handful.  Anyway, I read about the competition for a card with the theme of The World.  I was in the USA in July with the grandchildren (you can guess where) but managed to have time off to visit a large Craft Shop called Michaels.  I thought I had died and gone to heaven!  I bought a few stamps and have started to make my Xmas Cards - one of which may suit the Challenge - which I shall now try to upload!  I hope it is okay for the Challenge….

Here is my entry smile

I free hand drew and cut out the globe,  i added some card making things, scissors, ribbons & brads.
I then put 3 girls together to look like there from around the world and added a small 2” sq card to the top of the globe and put “Lets craft together” on the base of the card.

Hope you like it smile

My craft desk looks a tip now LOL
