I'm gobsmacked to say I ran these little beauties up in just a day and a half! Last time I knitted socks - must have been about this time last year - they took weeks, I'm sure of it. big surprise They're done toe-up - my preferred method - and from a sock pattern I wrote myself and slightly modified on this attempt. They've come out really well and I'm really pleased with them. smile Hope you like too. Not sure if the piccy shows the sparkly yarn, but there's a thin bit of silver thread running through the yarn and it makes them very pretty. cheese

K&F they are lovely and I can see the sparkle. Thanks to prettypale socks are on my to try list as I've never made them before. I nearly bought some sock wool today but thought I'll try something out of my stash then if it goes wrong it doesn't matter.

Do you think it is easier to go toe up or do you just prefer it?

75% wool sock yarn looks like a 4ply in mixy colours 4 x 50g balls £2.99 at Lidl.

Actually K&F are you sharing the pattern you wrote at all? I'd like to try toe up socks at some point smile
I looked on Lidl Ireland site and the wool isn't coming up on the specials but might pop there tomorrow once I have the car just in case.....

Su2ie, the yarn is called Classic Collection "Rainbow Glitz" DK. It comes in loads of colours and only cost me £2.99. A 100g ball is approx. 300m so I've got tonnes left. smile

Goose, I much prefer the toe-up method because you get a much neater toe using the invisible cast-on method. It's a bit fiddly, but once you've got it you've got it and the toe is fiddly however you approach it, so I like to get it out the way first! LOL And also you get to make the leg bit as long as you like when you finish, so if you've got a limited amount of yarn it's easier to see when to stop. And you can make the top of the leg a fancy edge if you want. cheese

Su2, not sure if the pattern is ready for sharing. I need to do a bit more work round the heel as what I've written down doesn't add up, but somehow it works out alright! LOL And I have an ace tip to share for that bit too. I'll have a look at it over the weekend and if I can sort it out I'll let you know. smile

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments. smile I'm very proud of them. cheese I think what I'll do is make another pair - maybe in a different yarn (or maybe I'll be really naughty and get another colour of that yarn when I accidentally go to my LYS tomorrow! LOL ) and then hopefully I'll get that heel nailed down and can tell you how I did it. cheese
