I usually read and read a pattern though before starting it to make sure i understand the whole thing but the Heidi pattern that was included with the free yarn in issue 33 baffles me.
You cast on and rib for 5cm with yarn B, then (here it gets complicated and i think there is a chunk missing) next 2 rows ok. Then it says change to yarn B and do a pattern row then purl in folowing row then change the yarn to A. Then to complicate matters even more it says to repeat last 12 rows once more. But i have read and reread the pattern and no way is there 12 rows to repeat and where is the rest of the pattern?????
From the crown to end the pattern is straight forward but from the end of ribbing to the crown there is deffinately a chunk missing. Shame as i want to do this hat! Help!!

Hi just looked at pattern
Cast on with B and rib for 5cm
Change to A
Row 1 k5, ywfd,k2tog,k1, sl1,k1, psso, ywfd * k6 ywfd k2tog, k1, sl1, k1, psso,ywfd, rep from * to last 5 sts k5
Row 2 purl
Row 3 same as row 1
Row 4 same as row 2
Row 5 same as row 1
Row 6 same as row 2
Row 7 k6, ywfd, k3tog, ywfd * k8, ywfd, k3tog, ywfd, rep from * to last 6 sts, k6
Row 8 purl
Row 9 k5, sl1, k1, psso, yfwd, k1, ywfd k2tog, * k6 sl1, k1, psso, ywfd, k1, yfwd, k2tog, rep from * to last 5 sts k5
Row 10 purl
CHANGE to B
Row 11 k4, sl 1, k1, psso, yfwd, k3, ywfd, k2tog, * k4, sl 1, k1, psso, ywfd, k3, ywfd, k2tog rep from * to last 4 sts, k4
Row 12 purl
You have to repeat first 2 rows twice. These are the 12 rows. You would cahnge back to A and repeat them as in the pattern. Still with A knit next 8 rows on pattern, change to B work next 2 rows. Change back to A and work to end.
Hope this helps. Let me know if there is anything else you need help with
Just found this post from Goose on 12th July. Hope it helps
Hi.
There is not a mistake in the pattern, I have made 2 of these, scroll down to see 'heidi hat' and '2nd heidi hat' on the finished objects page. Also Knit&Flee; has recently finished hers called 'lacy beanie' also on the FO thread.
Cast on and knit your rib as instructed in yarn B.
Change to yarn A.
row 1 begins k5,yfwd
row 2 p
then repeat these 2 rows TWICE more....that would be rows 3,4,5,& 6
row 7 begins k6, yfwd
row 8 p
row 9 begins k5, sl 1
row 10 p
Change to yarn B
row 11 begins k4, sl 1
row 12 p
Now change back to yarn A and repeat the entire 12 rows again before you start the crown shaping. Good luck x
Many thanks for replying to my post. I now have the full instructions to complete the Heidi beanie hat. Many Thanks.

if you are confused you are in great company xxxxx
The 'missing' bit of the pattern is in the second column on the inside page of the leaflet. I've heard from a few people who have missed it and thought that was part of the beret rather than Heidi, so I just wanted to apologise for any confusion.
We'll try and make sure its clearer on future patterns.
