I love donkeys! I saw a piece about knitting donkeys for the donkey sanctuary, but not sure where to get the pattern from? Would be great to do something.

Nicola.

We ran a piece about the Donkey Sanctuary in our June issue. If you'd like to knit a donkey for the sanctuary, contact Ruth from the charity's fundraising team on 01395 578222 and she will send you the pattern smile

Thanks! I knew I'd seen it somewhere, just couldn't remember where.

Thanks again

Hi some ladies at our knitting group made the larger ones. They are fiddly because you knit the feet/hooves separate and have to sew t hem on to bottom of legs afterwards. It is easier just to change colour and knit the legs - so I am told. They do look lovely when finished. The ladies also crochet flowers for hat.

I'm not making them but people at the charity I knit for are. Think they got the pattern from the donkey sanctuary web site too.

the pattern she sent me was for the normal size donkeys and mini ones but yes i agree i wouldnt put the hooves on seperate. obviously you can knit them any colour you want and adorn them as you like all the sales are for the donkeys which is wonderful. i have also asked ruth if she needs blankets, i dont mind knitting a few of them too
