They’re probably just very busy. I would be out looking for more bargains that may be valuable personally. I once worked with a guy who took up an interest in antiques in his teens. He was always making money from it. When he was in his fifties (when I knew him) he found something really special and had it autioned at one of the big London dealers and immediately retired. He wouldn’t tell anyone any details but he was beaming, so it was obviously something great.

We were all SO jealous! He had been doing it as a hobby for a long, long time though, so knew what to look for and got extremely lucky.

thats the problem, i have no idea what to look for! i only have these hooks because i wanted the embroidery scissors that they came with.  might have to have a look around for other little bits now though.  im not bothered about the value of things though, its more about the story of what they are and where they came from.  im never going to get rich from antiques!!! (unfortunately!!!)

They look similar to yours Debsh

Also found this info:
although the smaller types (“glovehooks”) were used for buttons on dresses, sleeves and men’s stiff collars. Many glovehooks have a small ring on the handle end. This was for a lady to attach the item to her chatelaine at her belt, or on a necklace. Some of the folding glove hooks (bow style or penknife style) also had rings and could be affixed to a watch chain as a fob.

thank you!  i have had a look and although mine are no where near as decorative as a lot of the ones on the website, it definately looks as though that is what they are.  I hope Noble Jones will be able to tell me roughly how old they are.

I know. I wouldn’t really know what to do either Debs. I have a good feel for paintings because of my background, but not many places around here to find anything that’s been lost and undiscovered. Pity we aren’t going to get rich…I would love to give it a go though! I’m sure I’d be good at it…
