I think the side kick is quite small Louise, what do you want to cut on it?

I have a tag along -which is the same - and tbh it is a bit limited.  You can’t use any of the embossing plates that a lot pf people use.  Having said that they were getting dead cheap and will take quite a good selection of dies, just not any big ones are deep ones.  QK, sizzlets, and ellison thin all fit, and I think the CB as long as they are the small ones.

If you want to cut 12x12 papers full size you need the new sizzix pro but thats 249.99 at craft superstore http://www.craftsuperstore.co.uk/Crafts/Craft-Tools/Die-Cutting-and-Embossing/Sizzix-Die-Cutting-and-Embossing/Machines-and-Accessories/sc1567/p12382.aspx
If you want to cut 6x6 then I would say the big shot as it has a 6 inch opening.
As far as I know and maybe someone else can confirm or correect me on this but I think the cuttle bug has a five inch opening as the new embossing folders are 5 by 7.
Hope this helps.
PS I don’t have a pound sign on my keyboard at the minute thats why i haven’t put one in.

are you hoping to put in whole papers?  Not sure there is much about like that - but the big shot and the cuttlebug are reasonable in size and will quite big letters.  You can get sizzlets alphabets and they go in side kick.  I would look around at the type of dies/embossing that you are hoping to do

I have only just seen the post - including the fact that I am getting the blame for leading Louise into temptation cool grin. But there was probably not much convincing need anyway wink.

On a more serious note, I have seen the Sizzix Sidekick only on websites and once in a shop. It is indeed quite a small machine and - in my humble opinion - only really suited for embellishments.

Machines like the QuicKutz Epic Six will cope with cardstock up to 6” x 12” (the Epic has a 6” slot). The opening for the Cuttlebug is slightly smaller. Other popular machines are the Big Shot and the Wizzard.

I am using my Epic mainly for nesties and their QuicKutz equivalent, smaller dies for letters and embellishments or with embossing folders. When it comes to embossing folders I can only talk about the QuicKutz ones, as I do not have any other make. QuicKutz are having border embossing folders (approx. 2” x 12”), small 2” x 2” folders and folders of roughly A6 size (the A2 embossing folders). For the Epic Six you can also get a letterpress, but I have not got it and not seen it in real life.

You can usually find the Cuttlebug around the £60 mark and the Epic Six around the £70 mark. I am not so sure about the prices for the others.

Perhaps watch out for machines on QVC and Create & Craft, at craft shows or in shops. You could then see how they are all working, how handy or bulky they are and which one is to your liking.

.

The cuttlebug’s opening is 6 inches too, I think, you can put an A6 card blank in length ways anyway. Not sure on the side-kicks actual dimensions but it’s a fair bit smaller so definitely worth bearing in mind before you decide. Good luck Louise x

I just had an e-mail from Crafty Devils that they have got now the new Big Shot Pro in stock. This machine has got a 13” opening.

http://www.craftydevilspapercraft.co.uk/107-sizzix-big-shot-pro.asp

It is a hefty price tag and you probably need a lot of space for the tool.
