We're lucky enough to have our knitty group in the LYS so they advertise it with posters in the shop and adverts in the local advertiser magazine. Could you put up a poster in your LYS or does your local newspaper do a section (for free!) to advertise local groups?

I've also been know to stalk - I mean notice people buying knitting magazines in the local newsagents and draw their attention to our knitty group cheese

Good luck with getting more members grin

Aww that's a pity about the paper - you'd think they would do something to help the community!
Good luck with the advertising smile

I've had a lot of free advertising from our local paper, they seem glad of the item, guess it fills up columns?!

I make up kits every now and again and advertise them in our weekly parish newsletter.
Before christmas I made the christmas puding tea cosy, calculated how much it would cost to supply everyone with all the stuff they needed to complete it, including needles, and then they rang me and ordered their kits. I sold eleven and four of those women are still coming to group grin

For easter I'm making up kits to make Buzy's bunny egg cosies, just working out the cost at the mo although it won't be much.
These little projects are great for attracting newcomers and beginners.

Good luck x
