Hi all

As you know I am currently knitting the Sirdar big Softie Snow Jacket. This requires 2 massive buttons and I cannot get any big enough. here is a pic of the jacket http://www.sirdar.co.uk/designs/womens/jackets/9049

Does anyone have 2 buttons this size? I am knitting it in Denim ultra in the purple cream marled mix, so any shade of wooden, or cream or purple will suffice.

Am willing to buy or swap something out of my stash for something you are short of.

I think anything smaller than about 2inch across will look daft. it needs some seriously big buttons!

thanks in advance xxxxxxx

Sorry Giddy, I don'thave anything that big, but I'll keep my eye out. Have you thought about making your own from Fimo or other clay? Not sure if you'd have to remove them every time you need to wash it, but it's maybe worth a try if you can't get anything else.

Don't have any that large in my stash but when I needed really large ones I found what I was looking for on "Totally Buttons" . If you don't have a button fetish at the moment you will after visiting. They arn't cheap but it will be worth it to finish of you jacket. I really like the glass buttons that look like morano glass but I would have to knbit someething spectacular to do them justice. One day perhaps....... tongue rolleye

Is this the sort of thing you're looking for Large Buttons - Ebay

There's quite a few different ones on there.

When I needed large buttons for a bag I made I found them in my LYS I think they were about 60p each!! There's a pic of my bag in my blog, if there about the size you need I could have a look to see if they still have them?

am off for a browse on totally buttons - those ones are lovely buffy and the colour would be fab, but 3cm across is too small - dash it!

i actually have a bit of a button phobia - if i see a bag of them they make me feel queasy - strange soul that i am!

thanks ladies xxxxx

I got a big wooden button for my gilet from I think it was Hinkleys but that was in Cork and not sure if they do mail order. We don't often go to Cork as its about an hour and a half drive away but if we do and you've not found any by then I will get some for you smile
