Ok here are a few of my favourite free book/poems/scripts download sites. The books are usually in plain text (ASCII) format but you can also use other free reader software to enhance your reading experience. Tom's eTextReader allows you to read texts provided by Project Gutenburg etc in a book like manner. You can download Tom's Freeware Reader here
Another good reader is provided by yBook, from Spacejock and it can be downloaded from Spacejock This reader takes plain text (.txt) or HTML files and displays the contents as if they were printed as a paperback novel. You can also change the typeface and re-size the fonts from 8 to 24 points. It displays books two pages side by side and you can click on the pages to turn them. I do have a list of others for displaying if different formats so if you need any more information, please let me know.

wow that's a lot of links. Thanks for those! Do you mind if I pass a few on?

You must do a lot of reading on-screen then? Not something I have thought to do myself. I've always imagined I would print them off first to read (not that I ever have) which is a bit daft as I am all for reducing paper waste, etc.

Definately something we should be promoting more of!

You wouldn't happen to know if there are any old Jackie annuals online would you? There is a story from one that I remember as a kid and would love to read again. Would have been around mid-70s.

Hi SC. Your post made me chuckle. I used to get the Jackie annual every single Christmas and the magazine on order every week. I loved it. I'll take a look for you later on when I have more time and get back to you wink

It's really strange you mentioning Jackie. I was in Borders the other night and they had Jackie annuals on a huge Jackie stand. They even had Jackie knitting kits LOL I think they were on sale too.

Hi SC sorry I've been mega busy, I promise to take a look for you tomorrow I haven’t forgotten. I just thought I'd let you know that the Jackie annuals and knitting kits are now on sale at our Borders. If you have one near to you.

That's OK, I didn't realise I had a reply on this as my pending list doesn't seem to be working. Anyone know why that would be?

A (grown-up) friend of mine got a Jackie annual for christmas, which is what made me think of it. Funny how it is getting big again!
