I have just started using my Cuttlebug and am really impressed with it. However, I have not been able to master how to use my brass stencils with it. I have tried just about every permutation and combination with the cutting pads, spacer and foam mat and nothing is embossed onto the pape.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, any ideas on how to resolve it all?

Many thanks

Jacqui

Jacqui, I’m sorry I had no,luck either when I had my Big Shot… so I can’t help! The only thing that works for me are the folders - have you seen the new ones which come out in summer? Ooooh for a bigger bank balance!  LOL

Hi. Thank you both for your replies. I have bought a load of folders and cutting dies online over the last few days. I am still waiting to take delivery of most of them and am very impressed with what I have purchased so far.

Maggie - I have a foam mat that came with the Cuttlebug and use it when trying to emboss with my brass stencils. From the bottom up, the ‘sandwich’ I make is as follows:
cutting pad (B)
paper
brass stencil
cutting pad(B)
spacer (A)
I have tried swapping them about a bit and incorporating the other cutting pad (C) but to no avail. When you mention blocks - do you mean the plastic cutting pads?

Thanks

Jacqui (Ellie Panter is actually one of my kittens but I couldn’t register with the screen name of Jacqui as it was already in use…)

here is the link to th CB site:

http://www.provocraft.com/products/downloads/pdf/cuttlebug/Stack_matrix.pdf

I have not tried it myself, other than on my demo I had with the machine, but from memory you need to sandwich the rubber, the card and the stencil between the plates

I have tried every way you can think of and still can’t get it to go through the machine!  I was so looking forward to using my brass stencils - but it just wont work.  I even went on the provocraft website - but still nothing.  SO I HAVE GIVEN UP TRYING!!!

But I do love using my embossing folders they are just great!

from memory it was quite stiff to go through the machine, as the mat has to be really squashed down.  I wonder if it would work on different card

You’re right, the rubber goes on one side of the stencil and the paper on the other! I’ll have to see if I’ve still got the instructions and copy them.

I’ve only tried it a couple of times, I don’t like the way it leaves the border of the stencil visible all the time :(

BTW - Sissix embossing folders work in the Cuttlebug too!
