Hi all,

I thought I'd get started on recommending a book! I have to say that this book by Debbie Stoller is great if you're a newbie knitter looking to learn the ropes.

It has helped me so much with knitting techniques including, working on the round, increasing, decreasing and much more!

It's my favourite knitting book of the moment,

I love the new boy's stitch and bitch, there's a few bits I'd like to make for my boyfriend but I'm sure he'd never wear them so there's not much point (grumble, grumble). He's a typical 'jeans and grey top/black top/dark blue top' kind of guy so the bright colours and fun patterns probably won't appeal.

I was in Borders book store last night buying some last minute Christmas presents as per usual oh oh and the first two Stich n Bitch books had £3 off and the Son of a Stitch n Bitch had £4 off. I think the original retail price before the discount was £10.99 each, so they are a really good buy. I had a good flick through them and I am going to snap the three of them up after Christmas if they are still on offer.

I bought the first two Stitch N Bitch books the other day also the Happy Hooker. I started reading the first one last night, it's really good.

Aren't they brilliant? I love the style of them, and find that it sticks in my head the way she writes it. It's a nice read as well as a useful book, I'm glad you're pleased with them after our recommendations Ickle Pickle. You'll have to post pics of anything you make from them :0

I haven't read the Happy Hooker book, but I think I will eventually get sucked into crochet too, so I'm sure it will be gracing my bookshelves with the rest before long...

Too true. I never really understood anything more than knit one, purl one before. So straightforward and easy to understand.

Crochet hooks are on my to get list now. I was going to have a quick flick through the Happy Hooker last night but became engrossed. It's brilliant.
