We have a textiles group at Walsall Museum. We meet once a month and eat quite a lot of biscuits. Our star knitter is called Doreen. She is the quickest knitter I've ever known, and her great-grandaughter, Layla, is no doubt the best dressed child in the south of England. We do other stuff too. We have a couple of quilters, embroiderers, dressmakers, and people who do a little bit of a lot of things, but it's mostly about the biscuits. Type 'Walsall textiles group' into google - I think we're top of the list, and all our dates and what-have-you is on our site. Is your group up and running? I'm sure some of my ladies would come along if you can give us the where and when.
hi there! just noticed this sorry.
no, my group isnt up and running, sadly i've had family stuff which has gotten in the way, and i've realised that perhaps now isnt the right time to start a group - and my work hours arent fixed during the day so a bit difficult to do when i sat down and looked into it properly.
Incidentally, the lady who shamelessly touted for members of her own night time group has started her own ravelry group and although there is no chating on their forum, the meetings are happening, so at least Walsall got one knitting group out of it. Unfortunately, its in a part of the town i dont feel safe in during the day (might be just me, but its a bit out of the way) so there's no way i'd go there on my own at night.
i will DEFINITELY look into your group though thank you - you may have yourselves a new member! - edited to add, i've been having a look on your website and i will look into coming to your next meeting.
