I got one on ebay £8 inc postage. Hopefully I can relist it when I've finally knitted the tree. Just don't tell my husband what I paid for it!!!

Thanks for the link Cathy, but the tree isn't on here. Only available by getting hold of a copy from a magazine. Its a shame that Alan Dart can't re-print this himself, but the copyright is held by the magazine.

I sent this to someone, and I'm sorry ladies but to pay that type of money for a free pattern is immoral if not illegal. I can't remember who I sent it to as it was on the old site but if they have crossed over maybe they will send you a copy. I send out patterns I don't use or am finished with and would be very upset if someone used it to make money from. If I send it to you its a gift to you to share with the community. This was a sore point and people were put off of site for speaking there mind. We are or should be a community that helps each other to promote our love of knitting and to encourage others to do the same. PLEASE do not pay over inflated prices on E-bay or alsewhere ask here first, let a us be a caring, sharing community.

I agree with Jemimapuddleduck - I can't see anything wrong with swapping patterns, especially if you know you're not going to use them again or its not something you're going to knit anyway. It is immoral to try and rip people off like this, I can only hope someone has the pattern and is willing to part with it for you Knitting Granny - if I had it I would certainly send it to you. Its a pity Alan Dart isn't allowed to put these magazine patterns on his website also - I've looked there myself in the past for patterns he's done for magazines but can't get hold of. Must say though that the patterns he does have there are lovely and I think a very reasonable price for the pdf's

I haven't been on for a while, things are better now. Can I sat the first port of call AFTER here should be your local charity shops. Its amazing what people give to charity, I have bought several needles and patterns. Sorry that I don't have what your looking for, in fact not sure if I have any picture patterns left. i will check and if I have any will post it and be happy to send them to someone who can use them.

people charge that much simply because people are prepared to pay it - i think they probably looking at the bidding and then set a buy it now price based on that. i think some ebay sellers do trawl ebay to see what is going for a good price, and then tap into that. its a way of making a living and if people are prepared to pay it, its up to them. also, ebay is addictive, and sometimes people get hell bent on the "got to have it" towards the end if the auction, rather than setting themselves a sensible limit. Not everyone obviously, but some people have this trait. i used to, but then learned the hard way when i found something far cheaper elsewhere!


personally, would rather just buy the bloomin magazine its in!

what I meant was I dont know why they buy it from Ebay because it is on Alans site at £2.50

I think people buy on Ebay because there are so many rumours about what is and isnt available.

I saw a pattern for sale on Ebay the other day claiming it was RARE!! I couldnt believe it because the same pattern is available again on site for £2.50!

I personally find it immoral too.

I agree with the I've got to have it principal, you just have to go to an auction place to see it in action. These people don't care about morals, morals doesn'y put money in the bank. I only bid on things in e-bay when I know that its a good price with the added postal charges. Watch those postal charges ladies the bargain might not seem like such a bargain. Now I could do with some advice, I have decided to do something in beading, like a motif or an edging for around the neck or bottom of a plain jumper but I am not inventive so I am looking for some ideas and places to check out some designs that I can adapt to beads, so ladies/men any advice please.

Dont look now but Noahs Ark patterns are going for over £60 each!

hi, I've just recently discovered Alan Dart! Living in South AFrica it's very difficult to get his patterns @ reasonable prices!! I'm working on it:)

If you go to alandart.co.uk you can download lots of his patterns for about £2.50 each and there is also a couple of free ones too.
The advent tree is on his website.
