hi,
i have recently started to try and sell my creations and was wondering if you could advise me on my packaging, as i know its really important and adds to the quality of your jewellery. there are so many options and the cost can really mount up, and i would rather spend more money on beads then on packaging!! what is the best option, gift boxes, gift bags or organza bags? and can you recommend where i can get them at a good price?
thanks

Excellent - i could really use your help! I’m currently making a tubular herringbone necklace and wondering how best to finish it off as it’s fairly weighty and the ends are quite chunky. Any ideas?
I always read this feature in the mag - makes me feel so much bettwe when I can see I’m not the only one struggling.. lol! I’ve emailed my question to you Melissa.
I have been experimenting at making my own jump rings. What is the best way to cut them as normal cutters tend to squash the ends so they don’t fit together neatly?
Hi,
ive loads of wooden, natural looking gemstone beads & generally tribal/hippy type style beads in my stash, im finding it really difficult to get them to look right in a project.
Could mj do a few tribal/hippy ish projects for us to try out?
i really dont want to end up giving away perfectly good beads because i dont know what to do with them

Would it possible to have a list with images on what all of the parts ond componants are for jewellery making as I’m such dim wit and can never remember the names of all the pieces and there are loads of items that people mention and I havent a clue what they are talking about! Ha Ha!!
I asked last week on the general pages how do you make a watch, but didn’t get many replies. I have made one now, but it would of been great to have some instructions. Thanks Maree
I’ve had a go at weaving beads on a loom, and love the effect, but I’m struggling on how to finish it off. The books I have descriptions but not much in the detailed photos which I really need. Would really like to finish off the one sat on my loom :o)
I’m having the same trouble. not the easiest thing to lose 28 ends of thread and find a way of finishing off with a clasp of some sort.

Hi Jennifer,
In the back of each issue of Make Jewellery (usually p82-83), we have a two page feature called The Essentials which lists six of the basic findings with accompanying photos. Also, we will be featuring a special Finishing Masterclass in issue 17 (due out on 30th July) which looks at other findings such as ribbon crimps, crimp covers, wire guardians and bead tips. Hope this is helpful to you!

Hi Maree,
I’m sorry we didn’t catch your question last week Maree. When you say making watches, did you mean the sort with beaded straps? We do have a project to make that type in The Make Jewellery Collection (Stop the Clock), which you can now purchase for just £2.99 postage and packing. If you are interested, go to http://www.craftyclub.net/collection/ to order online.

Hi Pete,
I’d recommend checking out The Beader’s Bible by Dorothy Wood - it covers finishing off bead weaving on a loom with clear step-by-step photos, along with various other jewellery making techniques that you may find useful. You can purchase it online at http://www.rucraft.co.uk at the special price of £9.99 (RRP £14.99). Good luck!
