I do not have a cuttlebug myself, Jules, but I am aware that you need a special mat if you want to use brass stencils with it. So far people hinted on a rubber mat from Oyster Stamps, but yesterday I saw an original cuttlebug embossing mat from Kars in a local craft shop. I think it was around £3/£4.
Hi,
I just got my cuttlebug yesterday for the NEC (by the way if you can wait for a craft show then i would, i got the machine and 4 embossing folders for £60) i only wanted it for the embossing folders as i already have a cricut. And finally yes you can use it straight from the box as it were, you don’t need to buy any thing other then the embossing folders you want.
I love it, it really finishes things off.
But really if you can wait for a show do as you save so much money!
I’ll pm you where I got it from, and have started off with the Divine swirls and stylized flowers. I already have the tiny bubbles one (won it as blog candy ages ago and have hung on to it with the hope of getting to use it one day )
Hi Jules,
Yes you can use your Cuttlebug embossing folders with your new machine, without extra mats.
The extra mat is useful for brass stencils as they are thinner than the Cuttlebug folders.
I think you’ve got a good price there for your Cuttle, but you need the folders to go with it too!!! Glad you managed to slip one or two into your shopping basket.
Just been getting pics organised of some of my cuttle embossed cards for you. Haven’t had my bug long so just first efforts.
The Cuttlebug comes with an Extra cutting mat for other make templates and folders. and the instruction booklet is really well done so you cant go wrong really, just dont emboss your thumb like I did lol… Good luck and have fun..
Paperkate, thank you so much for your reply and for taking the trouble to add samples. They are fab, I can’t wait to get mine now as they make such a difference to a “flat” card.
Copse thank you hunny. I shall try my hardest to avoid my thumb
Carolyn, oh now I am intrigued. New products eh? I need to see
