Hi everyone,

Hope you're having a good week!

I understand that some of you are disappointed that knitting only has a small area on this forum, after having had numerous sections on the old LK forum.

Because of this we are looking to develop the Knitting & Crochet section so it's actually a board within the forum, and we're looking to do this as soon as possible. This way we can give you a number of sub-sections within it and it will hopefully be a lot easier to navigate.

We obviously won't be able to recreate all the sections on the LK forum, but I would really like your feedback on what sections you'd like to see, for example:

Finished objects
Knitting groups
Knitting help

Please list them in order of priority so we can see what you think is most important. I'll keep you up to date regarding the development - don't worry no posts will be lost in the transfer, we'll simply move threads into their relevant new sections.

Thanks for your feedback,

Kate smile

Thanks Kate. This will help a lot. Not all of us are good at techie stuff & some were just getting comfy on the LK site.
Could we have a General Chat thread please? The 1 on the CB site is just too big. It would take me a month to get to the end of that thread to post. Would love to do it sometime tho. My order of priority for the list so far would be
Knitting Help
Finished Objects
Knitting Groups.

I realise things take a bit of time but thanks again for thinking of us. BTW - have you decided what to knit next?

Hi Kate,

That is great news indeed and thank you! The CB site if wonderful but huge compared to the old LK one and I think some people (myself included) felt a liitle lost.

Personally, the sections of importance to me are:
Knitting help/Technical questions
A thread discussing the latest issue
General chit chat
FO's ans UFO's
Sourcing wool & supplies
Knitting groups

Can't think of any more right now but I'm sure the others will contribute shorty.

Ps. I would totally love your job!

Hello, I'd like a general chit-chat area and a FO's gallery. Think they were the main 2 I used to frequent! Important news section would be good too in case there are official announcements and a crochet section where we can go for help with that. Hmm, maybe a help section for when we get stuck would be a good idea too. Think that's everything!

Thanks for taking the trouble to listen to our feedback. It's hard being such little fish in such a big pond, especially those of us who are new to forums and shy! smile

Thank you that's great! Hopefully when we're done you'll be able to settle in properly. smile

We'll try and accommodate everything within the new sections but, don't forget, once the new knitting board is up, if you find there is need for another section, if you PM either myself or Emma we always consider all suggestions - in fact, that's how the forum has got so big, based on member suggestions! wink

Keep them coming!

I agree with all of the above plus I really miss the little side panel that listed the topics. I found that a nice way to pick which thread I wanted to read/contribute to.
Any possibility of having one of those just for the knitting threads (and the other categories too perhaps). question

Hi knittingporky,

The little panel was great, I remember. I think that one would be more complex to introduce on this board because it's all dependant on the template of that particular forum - I think it would have to be implemented for the entire forum rather than one sub-board if it did happen, so I'm not sure how much use that would be? I will definitely raise the question for you, but I think that will be more of a long term development if it's possible. Thanks for the suggestion!

Not wanting to drag people away from this forum if they're happy here, but I set up a forum along the lines of the old LK board for those who liked the "knitting only" format. (obv it still covers crochet as well) If anyone would like to join, it's a free forum and makes it easier to chat about knitty things without having to search through other crafts. I've been registered on this forum for ages (even before LK joined in) but I find having so many crafts in one place too confusing and loved that the LK board was just knitting/crochet. That's why I started a free forum using the topics that were on the old forum.

If anyone would like to join the forum as well as staying on this one, please PM me for details.

Cheers!

P.S. Hope I'm not violating any rules - I'm not trying to poach members, just offering another knitty knest for all the knit-chicks out there!

What agreat idea Kate. I would think that knitting help would be the most important as you have so many experienced knitters on this site that you could tap their knowledge. Finished objects would be fine but not everyone has a camera to put up their finished projects and some its the lack of confidence in what they do. The groups, I would say is the least important, unless its for specific subjects which could be covered in knitting help. Hope this gives you something to think about and no doubt the others will voice their opinion and make things clearer.
