Hiya Carol

I'd guess that SKP is slip1, knit1, PSSO aswell (i've seen it as SKPO when shortened before so i'd go with it)

The next bit:

The 9 stitches which you either knit or purl are the centre 9, then SKP bit or the P2tog bit picks up the first stitch on the remaining stitches, this forms the heel to turn as you knit it, if you just follow the pattern making sure you turn when it says you shouldn't go far wrong, i make baby bootees which do a similar thing along the top.

I hope this makes sense, if not just shout and i'll try again LOL

Edited to add:
I've done a chart in Excel, hope this can show you what I was trying to explain above

Hi Helen,
thanks so much.. have (typically I guess) come to that conclusion myself in my impatience to carry on.. whoda thought sock knitting would be so exciting?! I always overthink these things instead of just doing as it says and trusting it will come out ok. It does all make sense when you do it!

Hi again everybody. There are a lot of increases in my clanger pattern and I've found that I've lost tension in my knitting as the rows of increases have stacked up, now for this clanger as it's just for me I won't be ripping it back, i'll just sew it up before stuffing it.

However a friend has already asked me to make her one, so I was wondering if this loss of tension could somehow be avoided?

(btw I'm increasing using KFB ... I@m rubbish at M1 increase)

Your help would be much appreciated smile

Thank you Carol, if I don't understand something on a knitting pattern I try and do a chart or write it out to see if I can see a pattern, I find charts and table comforting LOL

Hi Emma, am trying to knit the entrelac blanket in issue 31 and am bewildered by the instructions! Having worked the 1st triangle on the 100 cast on stitches, the instructions say to cut wool and join in new colour but don't say whether you carry on knitting the next triangle on the cast on stitches or on the worked triangle. Have knitted entrelac before, some years ago and really enjoyed it but these instructions have me beaten!

Sorry I'm not sure its been a long time since Itoo knitted entrelac. Reading the mag it looks as if you just continue on same sts. Why not give it a try see if it woorks. Perhaps someone else on the forum may be able to help. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I am really really really struggling with socks,I have the one sock syndrome, kitchener stitch issues (I have three unfinished sock like this!) and finding a pattern that I can follow easily is just a whole mystery to me. I have been shown how to start off doing a toe-up sock but it was only shown once to me and I'm not that fast a learner smile I found this the most easiest way of doing it, is there anyway of getting a pattern in the magazine with toe up, easy toe pattern, I have always found this magazine more than helpful and seen to be getting it more and more due to the gift and articles and patterns that I find that I can follow, that are featured smile

Thanks for the advice given in advanced smile

Jaye

EDIT: Realised it was in the wrong section - now it's in Let's knit Magazine smile

Hi,
I'm new to knitting so I'm really only able to do the basics (and only on a good day!). I'd really like to do a mug cozy, and online I can only find 2 sorts of patterns: cabling (which is way ahead of me!), and one without a hole for the mug handle (which I'd really like it to have) so I seem to be at a bit of a dead end.
Does anyone know of any good patterns for a mug cozy that a beginner would be able to master?!
Thank you thank you!

hi there naomialice!

first off welcome to the crazy world of knitting!!! a mug cozy is a great project, and once you have mastered the basics, you can progress to trying cabling on a mug cozy too.

i've sent you a message with a few links to free patterns, hopefully one of these will help you and give you some ideas.

dont forget to show us the finished object, and pop down to the knitting section and say hello anytime!

If you've come to the end of your tether with a project, wave a hand and someone will be able to come along and offer guidance smile

So this thread is a place where you can come if you need a helping hand smile

Have just begun knitting the Karen slippers and have come across a problem with pattern. It seems that the odd number rows are the wrong side of the work but when you get to the pattern chart this suddenly changes and it instructs the reverse of the pattern on the rows. Please help!
