If you've come to the end of your tether with a project, wave a hand and someone will be able to come along and offer guidance smile

So this thread is a place where you can come if you need a helping hand smile

I am allergic to wool aka animal fibres so anything I knit needs to be made from anything other than real wool.

I haven't done much knitting for a while but my question is actually about felting as I would really love to try this technique. I have seen so many wonderful felted projects but they all state to use wool. Is is possible to make felted projects with any other type of yarn besides animal fibres???

xx

Hiya Emma

Are we allowed to mention makes of yarn on this message board? I see in the rules it says no advertising. The reason I ask is that I had a lot of bother with a particular yarn and mentioned this on the LK forum. I wanted to warn other knitters of the pitfalls.

Hi Pinkbubble,

I've done some felting and all the info I've read on it so far states that it must be animal fibre in order to felt so I'm not sure that you will be able to find an alternative sorry!

Hi Emma,
I've somehow managed to post one new thread twice, once with one photo and once with two. I've no idea how I did it, I didn't mean to do it. Both are called FOs: A scarf and a thingumybob. Thought I'd better confess. Sorry. red face

Hi anniebabes,

Great question - you are allowed to name makes of yarns on the forum. Naming the product will help other members see how you have made the item and how they could re-create it. If you are then asked where it is from you are allowed to mention it, as long as you are not affiliated with the business smile

Hope this helps smile

Thanks
Emma

Hi angel8676,

I've deleted the additional thread for you - it is easily done so don't worry smile

Thanks

Thanks Emma. I'd like to mention that on the LK forum I mentioned my displeasure with the Sirdar Juicy although I did manage to complete my garment. I wrote to Sirdar and they are sending me 8 balls of complementary wool. So would like to say a big thumbs up to Sirdar's customer care. grin

Can I also ask if we can email patterns to each other? Would this break copyright rules as they're just between 'friends' and not used as a means of making money?

That is what i am knitting with it is fine but you have to hold it with a little strength.
At first then slacken off.
it knits up beautifully.
You have to take care not to snag it.
Down side it has a lot of knots in where they have joined it together.

Yes it is annoying I have managed so far to work them to the back or cut it before it gets to it.

yes have you knitted this suz?
it looks really nice but the end part just mystifies me.
I have started the second side anyway as I am determined to finish it come what may.

and yes it is like that with the computer.
also forget what ordinary things I do on the net these days as well.
