CB needs you! We love getting your input in the mag and I’m currently putting together a feature in which we’re going to be looking at some of the trends for the rest of 2009. So, I was wondering, what card making techniques, styles, designs, etc are you loving right now?
We’re going to be looking at origami, decoupage and tea-bag folding among other things? Do any of you enjoy using these techniques in your card making and if so how and why? Or, what do you believe will be making it really big this year?
Post your card making/trend opinions up here, and the next thing you know, we may be getting in contact and asking you to appear in our August issue!!
Hi Laura,
At the moment I am loving stamping and vintage papers (such as papermanias blueberry hill, I also know someone else on here loves them too - you know who you are ). I do think vintage is big now and will remain so for the rest of the year. I have also started to like a more simplistic effect on my cards such as less embellishments and more art work.
Oh and I think dry embossing is really popular too ! I also like that (using my cuttlebug of course).
Hope this helps
Michelle
I am loving Basic Grey papers and stamping at the moment….mainly Magnolia,Sugar Nellie and Sarah Kay…
The basic grey Marrakech papers are just stunning,so rich and exotic….
The range of stamps you can get at the moment are amazing,so detailed and so easy to use…
I too love Basic Grey papers, especially the Archaic ones, but not sure they’re not yesterdays if you know what I mean?! Other than that I’m loving using my nestabilities and also my embossing folders, especially my impressabilities one (hoping to get more when funds allow LOL)
I love using 2 colours when card making, eg black/white, green/pink, black/pink etc etc, I think cards made like this can be very striking!
Beautiful, elegant and pretty cards I think will be in this year. Not too fussy but not too simple either.
Cards that show flair, skill as well as being thought out well. I think texture and layers will be big. Velvety ribbons, lace, ric rac, embossing and decoupage. Vintage designs as well as modern pretty vintage style
Well I am hoping they will be big as these are the things I love the most.
I love so many things, but i must say i just love faux stitching on cards, i feel it can some times finish a card of nicely and bring it all together.
I also love decoupage and teabag folding, and also lace effects on cards, where you cut sections of the card using a tempate then fold some of the sections under the one before.
Will take a picture to show what i mean.
I also love punch art too.
I think you go through fazes ,mine at the moment is stamping and embossing then water-colouring, also started using acetate lot more and love constructing cards and shapes ( boxes, cars etc) and making templates.also love using all the lovely silk flowers out just now and the nestabilities. better stop as I could go on, on, on, just love crafting. I am loving DCWV The Green stack, made a fab mini book this week using these papers, they are soooooo cute, and its all made from 70% recylced paper too, so I am being environmentally friendly in my crafting. Love it
Just been trying to find some easy parchment craft patterns to have a go at.
I also like iris folding which I have just got into and tea bag folding. Just found a pattern today for Dahlia fold, which is circles folded and made into a flower. Looks interesting, but need a large round punch before I can have a go !!!
Hi i’m loving the sassafras lass products all the way from America, and also i love making memories new Girl Just Chillin’ collections, thats also really really really nice!
