Hi UpsyDaisy. It sounds really simple, but my advice would be to get yourself some really good scissors. You don’t have to spend a fortune (have a look at some of the crafting TV channel websites for some really fab deals - not connected etc) but it really does make things easier. You’ll find that a pair with really small blades helps tremendously with detailed cutting-out, and a pair with good long blades makes for smooth cutting of longer lines.

I also have a guillotine and a paper-trimmer, both of which are great. I would recommend getting a guillotine first if you can only afford one of them.

There are lots of snazzy gizmos out there, but don’t commit yourself to any hige expense for, say, die-cutting machines and the like unless and until you know you will get value from them. It’s all too easy to get carried away!

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Although it is a pricey one i recommend the cricut, it saves you money in the long run. And your creativity can run wild.
It comes with one basic cartridge which you can do loads with, and software is also alvailable which make the possiblities endless.
I really counldn’t live without mine, also saves me loads of time!
Hope thats helpful

I could not live without good scissors and an A4 paper trimmer. Fiskars and Woodware have got affordable paper trimmers where you can exchange the blades easily.

I’ve been really happy with my X-Cut trimmer. One thing I’d say about punches, is not to just buy things because you like the image, but think about how you can use them. I tend to use the more generic ones, circle, flower etc far more than some i’ve got eg. a cat and a dolphin!

I really want to buy a big flower punch at some point, does anyone have any recommendations? I’ve been putting it off as I want to make sure I get one that works with them being quite a bit more expensive than the little punches.

I always seem to use punches - especially daisies/flowers and a trimmer. (I have a lrage trimmer and a small one and they both get used extensively)

hi lollies cricuts vary in price but if you google it you’ll get a selection of sellers to check out for prices. They are quite versatile for cutting embellishments at different sizes but you need to use their cartridges and they can be pricey but if you get one then there is a programme called SCAL you can buy which will save money in the long run - hope this helps
