What is a RAK?
RAK = Random Act of Kindness.

How does the RAK List Work?
You basically choose a name from the list and send whatever you fancy sending - could be papers, stickers, chocolate (!), die cuts, an ATC - whatever you fancy really!   It may be that you have been really helped by someone on the forum or that you want to encourage someone or you just fancy sending a surprise. It is absolutely great to receive unexpected goodies this way through the post!

Please say ‘Thank You’ when you receive a RAK

This can be done in several ways – a thank you note through the post, or a PM (Private Message) via the forum to the member concerned or a public Thank You in the Appreciation Society Thread in the Crafty Community section of the forum. The choice is yours!

How do I join in?
To join the RAK list then PM me the following info:

1) I obviously need your address

2) It’s probably a good idea to give me your real name [unless, of course, you are happy for your postie to know that you go by the name of “Supersausage2009” or whatever )

3) I will also need your email address in order to send you the list. Please let me know if you do not want me to add your email to the list for other members to see - I will put it on unless you let me know! If you want to let me know your birthday I can add that too!

I send the RAK list out by email approx 3 times a month - then it’s up to you to choose who to send to and what to send!

What happens if I no longer want to be on the list?
Please PM me and ask to be removed. You can always go back on again. We all know that circumstances change

Once a year I will send out an email asking you to reply if you want to remain on the list. This will help to ensure that the list stays up to date. NO REPLY means that you will be taken off the list.

Data Protection Information

By signing up to participate in the RAK mailing list you are agreeing to your data being held electronically on the home computer of the member responsible for compiling and updating the list.

You are also agreeing to the electronic distribution of your details to each other member on the RAK list and the storage of the distributed list on their home computers. Members may also store this data in the form of a printed copy of the list, if so desired.

Your data will not be shared with the administrators of this site – only with those site members participating in the RAK mailing list.
Your data will not be stored for any longer than necessary and will only be used for the purposes of participating in the RAK mailing list. It will not be shared with third parties.

Your data can be removed from the list at any time by PMing the member responsible for compiling and updating the list.

Please report any misuse of your personal data to the member responsible for compiling and updating the list and an administrator of this site.

And finally - just sent out a new list today to all members on the old list. I have moved all the members who haven’t signed into the forum this year to a special section at the bottom so that people can see who is more active. Hope this helps.

You need to reply to the email if you want to remain on the list.

Please PM me if you think you should have had an email or be on the list and you haven’t received one.

I’ve replied to your email Eve, I didn’t mind you shouting and just wanted to say THanks for all the work you do to keep the list current.

This is turning into a nightmare! Got documents and lists and email windows and contacts lists open all over the place! It’s good I’m a left brainer who likes to get things organised - although if you saw the state of my house you might query that statement!

I won’t be sending out a new list until the start of April in order to give me time to get the new one into some sort of shape - otherwise I’ll have to run two lists at the same time

Apologies to any new members wanting to join but I will catch up with myself soon!

Hi all

Just about sorted the replies and the new slimline list out - gotta do a new mailing list for my email settings and then add in the new members who’ve requested to join.

Hope to be done and dusted and sending it out in a few days but I do have a wedding buffet for 100 to organise for Saturday so apologies if I get delayed!

I have recied so many nice things of lots of people on here it would just be so nice to send somthing to make them happy like i was made when i got a Rak and did not now about it,
