The Xyron Wishblade is on my wishlist.

The price has held me back from buying it so far.

It appealed to me more than the Cricut because you could also cut images from your computer, although I think the Cricut machine can now do this too.

I think I will need to actually see it in action before I spend that amount of money.

The Wishblade is exactly the same as the Craft Robo - made in the same factory - they make three machines, just in different colours.  Also the price differs.  The Robo comes with a better software package and is much cheaper.  I went into all this before I bought my Robo and can recommend it as you can do a lot with it.  OK, you can’t cut chipboard with a Robo, but as I am not that much into chipboard, it doesn’t bother me.

Thank you for your comments, they are really useful. I didn’t realise they were made by the same factory.

Thanks for all your replies. Its quite hard to find out about these things, I think its always best to ask someone who has used one.

I’ve got a robo, yes I am happy with it, but am presently have a nightmare time of obtaining a change of license so I can use the new Design Master software… be aware that if you perform a reinstall on your PC or worse (like me) buy a new computer, then you may have to jump thru several dozen hoops before you can use DM!

Aside from that, yes I can recommend the robo… saves on buying dies for one thing.

take care

I decided on a Craft Robo in the end. I’ve managed to cut a few shapes, its definately not that straight forward! Might take me sometime to master it yet!!!!

There’s a really useful Yahoo group that has lots of tutorials for the Wishblade, Craft Robo and other cutters and masses of cutting files that can be downloaded too.  And very helpful members too!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Wishblade/

It’s a very high volume group so probably best to sign up for the digest rather than individual posts or you’ll be swamped!  I have learned so much from them, I wouldn’t have known where to start when I got my Craft Robo otherwise.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of helpful advice here.

I usually do a google search for the item I am looking at then also add review to the search. You will find heaps of reviews then. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

I voted ‘maybe’, as I think it depends on the things you want to do with it. Their designs are great, but I want to sell cards and the Provo Craft policy is very restrictive. So I wouldn’t go for it at the moment.

I have been looking into these machines for the last few days and have just ordered the Craft Robo.  This is the same machine as the wishblade but it has a 2 year warranty,  I think the wishblade has only 1 year.  It is due to arrive at the beginning of the week so I will let you know how I get on.  I ordered it with additional software (design master).
