LOL

I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve old sewing books the best. Especially ones from the 50’s - 80’s. The books I find were in great detail and almost if there is such a thing, foolproof. Some of the dressmaking books may be dated but they sure do show you how to sew, the techniques in them are brilliant. I always struggled with zips (in dressmaking and soft furnishing) and darts until I came accross a book from the 70’s. Check out your local charity shops or car boot sales when they start back up smile There is a modern one though that I think is excellent. Only thing is it must be with some of the ones I hid LOL It really is excellent and is very good priced and even comes with patterns too. I can see the cover in my mind now too. It’s bright yellow with a woman at a sewing table, argggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh that’s going to bug me. I’ll have to try and find it now smile

Well I haven’t found my copy yet! but through looking through my bookshelves I have noticed loads of books missing. So I am not going to rest until they are found hmmm  I did remember the name of the book though it’s S.E.W. Sew Everything Workshop by Diana Rupp. It retails for around £14.99 as worth every penny in fact I was very shocked it was that cheap. It’s in a small binder and also comes with about 10 full size patterns, the same as you buy seperately. It’s on offer at the moment too. But like I said if you end up buying it later on full priced it is worth every penny smile I got mine from, you guessed it my joint second home (with IKEA) Borders LOL You can take a peek at it here.

Only 11 big surprise  you haven’t been looking hard enough LOL

I have just come across two huge sweet tins worth of ribbons and trim looking for those books. Think I’m going to have a go at making some brooches with them whilst the kids are quiet and maybe a bag.

Hello I have organised the pincushion cupcake swap

here is the thread

http://www.crafts-beautiful.com/site/index.php/forums/viewthread/15084/

I hope that you will all sign up, I live in France and I have already hosted this months postcard swap in exchange for some crafty goods. The price to post from France the pincushions is €2.30 as the pincushion is quite light, I do hope that you will all take part,

hugs
