Good Evening All,

I wanted to let you know that we have monitored the progress of the swaps with careful attention and appreciate that a number of you have a bit of a hard time either not receiving things or getting thank you messages.

In response to this Kate and I have decided that we will redesign the swaps section early next year.

The new system will be streamlined and efficient so that everyone involved will know what is going on and when smile We will design it with you in mind so we want all the suggestions you have, this is a system for you after all. It will be monitored by your moderators who will be more than happy to step in when needed smile

The swaps will have to be removed for a period of time for this redesign to go ahead, this will not be until the new year so carry on swapping as normal.

Let us know what you think

Thanks

Emma smile

This sounds like an excellent idea, definately needs some sort of moderation in place

Thanks

a easy to view page will help no end, and also having moderators step in and control it.

Good to hear that this is being addressed as I have had a few problems and did not receive some swaps and also never heard if some of mine were received. I know numbers are increasing on here so it is a good idea to review the way it is done.
Thanks for taking this on in New Year.GH xo smile

A suggestion - some form of calendar with an at a glance view of what swaps finish when - Google do a free one which you can make visible to everyone and it can either be embedded in a webpage or accessible via a clickable link - obviously needs a volunteer to keep it up to date.

Here’s an example ... CB Swap calendar

You could also stick the closing dates for competitions on it grin

That is great Eve, Thats what i suggested last time to them, when they asked us if there was any thing we would like on the forum.
I also said that our birthdays and when the next copy of the mag’s and craft shows dates should be on it to.

I suggested this on the other thread which would help save on postage.

I wondered if it is worth having a swap partner so the cost of postage one way is easier for most members to afford. That way those involved only send directly to their swap partner.

this sounds a great idea I’m in middle of hosting first swap had have had to resort to reminding the girls on dates and I feel a bit cheeky doing that but swap keeps getting moved and I had to search for it so a calendar would be helpful. I use one pinned up in room but not everyone can do that. look forward to seeing what you clever girls come up with. also make it a rule if you join a swap to let the sender know you have received it.Isabelle x

I found the card swap hard to host as I felt for those who didn’t get a swap (I sent a little card to those who never got a card smile )- at least with a host who ‘does’ the swap on a particular date people who send in should get a swap in return ... harder work on the host though ...

What would make it easier is if the swaps that are all done and dusted were deleted say 1 month after the swaps have taken place and that thank you’s are kept to the appreciation section.
Ive occaisionally missed threads because the months are all muddled up!

Eve,had a peek at your idea, think its a good one, although I have to say the 6x6 swap is mostly always fine, anyone not able to do the swap lets us know, but think your idea would really work well,as everyone who was doing a swap, would just need a look at dates to find out when they are all due! Love Maureen x

Hi all smile

I’m glad to see you are all bursting with ideas about how to design the swaps - if you have any more, no matter how wacky, do let us know and we will see what we can do.

I appreciate a number of you have expressed concern about different catagories of swaps being removed all at once. There will be a point where they will each be removed so that the redesign can go ahead but you will be given plenty of notice and the process will be staggered so they all don’t disappear at once.

Hope this is okay, let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks

Emma smile

I like the idea of the calendar - would be great to have all the info in one place.

I missed out on a swap when I sent one on but never received one.  I did pm the person but never had a reply.  Not sure what can be done about situations such as that.  Perhaps the mods could operate a sent/received board?  Thing is there are so many swaps (which is wonderful!) that it could be a lot of work.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts cool smile
