I have a “Silent setter” for punching and setting eyelets. I have difficulty setting the eyelets with it and have been wondering about investing in a new eyelet tool.
I was thinking about getting the Big Shot but it looks like some people have had problems with it and it is expensive.
Anyone know of a reasonably priced one that doesn’t need a lot of strencth to use.
Thanks   question  red face

I have just ordered a cropadile, I have no idea how good it is but I know a lot of people have them and they have been recommended to me.

I am sure someone a bit more helpful will be along soon smile

Enjoy your crafting. Hilarious grin

Hi Hilarious,
I have a silent setter and it takes quite a lot of rotational power, which I am not very good at. Just meant very few eyelets for me. I have just acquired a Crop-o-dile which I can use much better. It still needs quite a big hand to operate, and some squeeze power which I have.
I am told that the Big Bite (I think this is what you mean - Big Shot is a die cutting machine), is much easier to operate and reaches further across one’s work - so can get to middle of scrapbook pages for instance. Depends how restricted your hand power is.
But as ever the Big Bite is more expensive than the other options.
Hope you find the right answer for you.

The Big Bite is brilliant and takes no effort at all. You can also set gromlets and flat headed eyelets with it too.

The price has come down recently too - only £5, but thats £5 worth of eyelets you could buy!

One thing to point out though is that unelss you buy as part of a starter pack (such as the one QVC had on offer) it doesn’t come with any eyelets or gromlets to start you off. The gromlets sell for around £4 per pack.

Thank you to all who contacted me. I am thinking of buying the Big Bite hopefully with the gromlets and eyelets included. I presume that I would be able to use the Eyelets that i already Have in my clutter room.
If anyone knows where I can buy a starter set Big Bite I would be grateful. Hilarious

I am sure you should be able to use your eyelets - do you know if they are metric size - they may not work quite as well.  The Bug Bite and Cropodile are from the US and use inches eg 1/8th

The only place I have seen a starter pack is QVC - and then only with gromlets - not eyelets, presumably because eyelets are widely available already but gromlets are new to the market.
You’d be best off finding the machine discounted and then buying whatever gromlets you need alsewhere. I didn’t like the ones that came with mine and I’ve been flogging them off!

The Big Bite takes 1/8th & 1/16th inch eyelets, and I’ve only seen them sold in this size, not metric. I think you can use other sizes, but it will only cut holes of those sizes.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked the eyelets that I HAVE ARE 1/8TH SIZE so that they should work with the big bite. I hope that you can just make holes with the Big bite. I have just thought of that as I also have lots of brads that i would like to use in my clutter room.
The silent setter was difficult to use and didn’t always set the eyelet properly. Hilarious rolleyes

Yes you can just punch holes too
I am using the eyelets that I already have and they work fine
