We’ve battled through the snow and have finally made it into crafty HQ this chilly Monday morning. We’ve enjoyed looking at all the issue 37 challenge entries and have, with more debate, finally chosen a winner.

Hello everyone,

Can you believe we can finally wave bye-bye to January? The month seemed to go on forever - at one point I kept thinking it was March… Clearly losing my marbles!

I hope you’re all well and are enjoying the post-festive season. I was just thinking this morning that it’s been colder this week than it was over Christmas - is it the same for you? I went for a walk on Boxing Day in nothing but jeans and a jumper, now I’m swaddled up in every knitted item I can get my hands on!

Speaking of knits, I’ve chosen another knitty lady for our MOTM. She’s constantly buzzing around the forum, posting her fabulous creations and writing witty comments - I especially liked her little quip about her home being The House of Germs, I think we can all sympathise this time of year! But not only is she a supportive and active member, she’s also not afraid of pushing herself to try new things and has set her sights on mastering cross-stitch. Very impressive indeed!

So if you haven’t sussed it out from my oh-so-subtle clues above, our MOTM is…

Make Jewellery issue 34 challenge winner!

Hello everyone,

Once again we have a winner, this time for our forum challenge for issue 34 of Make Jewellery. Everyone took inspiration from our twin themes of Valentine’s Day and exotic jewellery, creating some wonderful pieces that we absolutely adored. After spending several hours looking over every entry, we finally came to a decision - so it’s congratulations to mikey1976, whose stunning Purple Fringe necklace really caught our eye! This lovely piece certainly fitted the exotic theme, created with herringbone stitch and featuring faceted Czech crystal drops and fire-polished Czech crystals in dark, mysterious shades. So congratulations Mikey (and don’t forget to email your postal address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize!). Panda challenge winners

I have been amazed at the response from forum members to my fun challenge on a panda theme.
So many wonderful takes on the idea.
So thank you all for taking part.
I had to call upon hubby to assist in the judging
and we have decided to award a prize for 3 different craft categories.
So there is one for papercraft, one for jewellery and one for textiles.

Papercraft prize goes to Barbara19 for her gold and black Panda in the bamboo.
Jewellery prize goes to Pinkpuppy who managed to magic two cute Fimo pandas,
when she had planned a little mohair number.
Textiles prize goes to Dani89 for her panda ball.

Well,,, you should all be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves!!! haha only joking, your creativity is inspirational!!!

I have studied the pictures in awe and amazement and I have decided that I feel that there are two photos that deserve a mention….

Hello everyone!

So, the time has come to announce the first glorious member of the month of 2012! I know what you’re thinking - “Holly, it’s not even been Christmas yet! Isn’t it a bit early?!” - and yes, crafties, you’re right! But as the crafty office is closed down until 3rd January I thought it would be cruel to keep you holding your breath until then.

So, without further ado, are you ready? Are you steady? Drum roll please…

This month’s member of the month is… artym!!!

Well done artym, your title really is thoroughly deserved! I may be new to the craft biz (celebrated my one month anniversary yesterday) but I can tell that you are one of the whizziest of the crafty whizzes I’ve ever come across! Seriously ladies, is there anything she can’t do?! Also, from a personal and baking-obsessed point of view, her idea for philadelphia mince pies made my mouth water so much that I shall most definitely be trying it tomorrow when I have my big Christmas bake-fest! Not only that, but your posts have had me very nearly fall off my chair with laughter; if I had a husband I would be making your ‘Husband banned except for washing up’ sign like a shot - crafty classic, no?

Make Jewellery issue 33 challenge winner!

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year and welcome to the results of our forum challenge for issue 33! We would like to thank everyone who managed to find time within their busy Christmas schedules to somehow whip up some amazing pieces of jewellery as well - there were all kinds of fabulous designs that we were coveting to wear at the MJ Towers Christmas party!

As always we’ve had a tough job selecting one winner, but we’ve now made our decision - so it’s congratulations to silversan, aka Gordon, who is a first time entrant to the forum challenges with his fabulous beaded cocktail ring! He used bead weaving techniques to create this elegant beauty, stringing 4mm black and 6mm white pearls with antique silver bead caps surrounding an 8mm white pearl, then creating the band in criss cross stitch and 11/0 black seed beads. So congratulations Gordon (and don’t forget to email your full name and postal address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize!).
