I'm trying to get through The White Lie by Andrea Gillies for my book group. We were supposed to be meeting tomorrow but an email has gone around and almost everyone has admitted they haven't finished it yet so we are going to postpone until January. Lucky, as I have also just bought four books I need to read for my MA which are going to take a bit of time...

I have just finished Maeve Binchy A Week in Winter, it is such a lovely gentle book. As with a lot of her books it weaves the characters lives within each other. It is set mainly in the west coast of Ireland but also in Dublin and America where the main character lived at one stage. She returns to Ireland to open an hotel and it all intermingles from there. Maeve Binchy was a brilliant story teller and will be sorely missed without any more of her brilliant books.

I read this book about four months ago and I really enjoyed it. I am not going to tell you the ending but all I can say is be prepared for the twist at the end
