    Hello

Hi Everyone I'm Jools and I love making stuff. I have an Etsy shop where I sell my craft and illustration items. I also draw and paint. I love trying out new craft and art techniques and applying by artwork to craft items and jewellery. Love to chat about ways of working with shrink plastic , if there's anyone here who uses it. Photos of some stuff I make. Jools x

    Help for Final Year Project

Dear All, I am a current student at Nottingham Trent University working of my final year piece. I am a part time crafter and enjoy making jewellery in my spare time, however I have noticed that it is really hard to find specialised craft furniture in the current market. Crafting is definitely on the boom and there are many people that love to craft from home but don't have the space or equipment. Currently from my primary research I have realised that the current furniture offered doesn't include much storage or adjustable working space. Could you possibly answer the questions below to help me understand the workspaces of a full time crafter and a hobby crafter? If there is anything that you feel I have missed and haven't asked please do not hesitate to comment. Please share around as the more crafters who answer the better my research will be and the more practical the final product will be. Thank you and best wishes.

    Beaded Bookmarks

Hello I'm new to this forum, and wanted to share some of my recent creations. I have had lots of fun creating cute beaded bookmarks. I love combining beads, charms and small polymer clay creations to make unique bookmarks. I've attached photos as thumbnails. Let me know what you think Kay xx
  8. i hardly ever find time to post on here anymore! i am so busy with uni work that i only just get time to do any crafting! but i am a bit of a odd one, i start one technique and then something else catches my eye, i have a whole wardrobe full to the bring with beads elastc wires findings beading contraptions spiral makers etc lol. my latest venture has been with polymer clay because everyout out here seems to make jewellery all looking the same and all selling way too cheap for me to compete! so heres a few pics of my makes, still a novice so hopefully will impove with time! Im also looking at just trying a couple of quartz wire wraps but im not sure yet... if any one has any tips or info on that i would really appreciate the words of wisdom!!! there are two of a fairy house i made, then decided it needed matching earrings! so adorable. Then there are are owls, pumpkins, elephants, a bird house pendant and a bird pendant.... i like birds and owls can you tell? lol

  10. Hello everyone! We are delighted to announce the winner of Make & Sell Jewellery's forum challenge for issue 58, the main theme of which was Valentine's Day. This romantic holiday inspired some beautiful entries and we've really enjoyed seeing them all. And the winner is Diane's Designs, who wowed us all with her lovely Venetian-style mask. Created after attending a wirework mask course by Rosanna who works as a bundle designer for Jewellery Maker, Diane says, "I think the intrigue of a mask fits well with the Valentine romance theme." Fashioned from pink and antique bronze wire, she then adorned her creation with genuine pearls for that final feminine touch. Congratulations Diane - don't forget to email your full name and address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize. We are also launching a new type of challenge to all you designers out there. Show us your latest creations on the forum, or on our Facebook page and each month we'll select our favourite to win a prize. It can be inspired by the projects in Make & Sell Jewellery or your own unique design, so grab your tools and get making. Happy beading! Melissa Hyland Deputy Editor
  11. Hello! I've recently starting running silversmithing workshops from my kitchen in SW London, helping people to make silver name tag necklaces. The first one was a great success, I was really pleased with the students' results. I've now got two more days booked in because people have said that they want to do them, but not sure how to go about filling the other slots. Any suggestions? This is a blog post about the first one: Wonderful workshop!

  15. Hello everyone, It's time to announce the winner of the Make & Sell Jewellery forum challenge for issue 57 (January '14), which had the New Year as its main theme. Christmas can be a hectic time that doesn't leave a lot of spare time for beading, so we'd like to thank everyone who were able to send in their entries. There were some lovely glitzy designs, perfect for any party, and the winner is maillemanz with her gorgeous Shooting Star necklace. "I have wire wrapped lots of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS crystals with ball pins and added silver-plated chains to make this focal pendant. This can slide onto a cord with the sturdy jump ring at the back," she explains. We love the bright colours and the tail of trailing chains - well done, your beady goodie bag will be in the post soon. Don't forget, you can still enter our latest forum challenge for issue 58 (February '14), which is based around Valentine's Day, the perfect opportunity to create some romantic designs. 18. Hello everyone, The forum challenge for issue 56 of Make & Sell Jewellery ended yesterday, and we are delighted to announce our new winner! The theme for this issue was Christmas and inspired some beautifully festive and glitzy entries. After much debating, we were finally able to make a decision - so it's congratulations to paperkate for her gorgeous necklace and matching bracelet. Created for herself to wear at a Christmas concert she is performing in, this beautiful set was created with gold and silver chain maille rings that are faceted all the way around. These were linked together to form chunky sparkling ropes and a smoky teardrop pendant adds the final touch to the necklace. So well done paperkate, and don't forget to email your full name and address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize. We'd also like to thank everyone else who entered and to remind you that the new forum challenge for issue 57 - our New Year issue - is now open. 21. Hello everyone, It's time to announce the winner of Make & Sell Jewellery's issue 55 challenge, which had Glitz and Glamour as its main theme. We had some lovely entries that would be perfect for all those upcoming parties. And the winner is MsSugarbean, who emailed us this fabulous image of her elegant bib necklace. She says: "It was made using some beautiful pearlesque leaves and tiny faux pearls with little crystals put in. It was all attatched to chains of differing lengths to form the cascade of creamy pearls and leaves. It took ages to wire up each bead and leaf and attach them to the chains, but I'm really happy with the result and think it makes a real statement." So congratulations, and make sure to email your full name and address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize. Thanks also to everyone who entered - there's still time to take part in our latest challenge at http://www.homecraftforums.com/topic/49639-make-sell-jewellery-issue-56-forum-challenge-closes-at-530pm-on-2nd-december-2013/ Happy beading! 22. Hello everyone! We are delighted to announce the winner of the Make & Sell Jewellery forum challenge for issue 54! Inspired by the colours and motifs of Autumn, we had some beautiful entries and we'd like to thank everyone who took part. And the winner is - Diane's Designs, with her beautiful Sunflower brooch. Inspired by these gorgeous, OTT blooms, she used black plastic 2mm rondelles in the middle, attached to a black wire spiral, plus gold colour seed beads and 1mm wire for the leaves, woven with 0.4mm gold coloured wire. This would be perfect to brighten up a winter coat and remind us that though summer is over for no, it will be back before we know it. So congratulations Diane (and don't forget to email your name and address to melissa@aceville.co.uk so we can send out your prize). Meanwhile, there's still time to enter our latest challenge for issue 55, at http://www.homecraftforums.com/topic/49449-make-sell-jewellery-issue-55-forum-challenge-closes-at-530pm-on-3rd-november2013/. 23. Hello everyone, It's time to announce the winner of our forum challenge for issue 53 of Make & Sell Jewellery, the main theme of which was vintage-style. It was great to see the many ways in which this was intepreted by the entrants, with all kinds of beautiful and timeless pieces. After much deliberation, we finally decided on a winner; so it's congratulations to Fallow, with her gorgous 'Born Again' bracelet. This lovely piece was made by upcycling glass pearls in various sizes from a broken necklace, which were attached to a chain maille bracelet along with lucite pink flowers and green leaves, plus a key charm for a suitably antique look. We adore the fresh colour scheme, which would suggest spring whenever it is worn. Well done Fallow (and don't forget to email your name and address to melissa@aceville.com so we can send out your prize). We'd also like to thank everyone else who entered and to remind you that our latest forum challenge for issue 54 (currently on sale) can be found at http://www.homecraftforums.com/topic/49255-make-sell-jewellery-issue-54-forum-challenge-closes-at-530pm-on-1st-octber-2013/ The main theme is Autumn, so get your thinking caps on! 25. Hello everyone, It's the moment you've all been waiting for as we present the winner of the Make & Sell Jewellery issue 51 forum challenge. The main theme for this issue was Summer and it was fascinating to see the various ways this was interpreted by those who entered. Sadly, there can be only one winner, so its congratulation to maritrez, who created this gorgeous choker necklace and matching earrings, using vibrant beads in a rainbow of colours. We think you'll all agree, this set would be perfect to wear at a festival or any other open-air event with a pretty sundress.
