I haven't got any more done at all!  Horrible medical form I need to fill in is due soon, so I'm having to focus on that.  But I'll be back!   How are you getting on?

A friend who also has M.E. has recently taken up loom knitting with great results.  She's sent me a set for my birthday!  As soon as my arm clears up I'm looking forward to trying it.  I think it will be so satisfying to have something I've made that is actually practical.  Although I also want to make things like mini wall hangings which are less practical....

Thanks Mary.  I don't have a workspace so everything has to be cleared away after - the benefit of felt pen drawings is that there's very little to clear away.
Sorry to hear your health hasn't been good either.

I'm going to try writing some poetry again as I haven't done that in a while.  I like haiku so will give that a go.  It's just about little steps and celebrating the small achievements! xxx

I wondered if anyone here takes part in National Novel Writing Month (November)?  I was all set to do it 7 years ago then met my partner online.  Suddenly my writing time became online chatting time!  Now I'm full of ideas for creative young adult novels that are just demanding to be written, and I'm finding it hard to set aside time and focus for them.  So I'm thinking I might try using NaNoWriMo as a way to focus on a specific writing project.  I just need to choose one of my ideas(!) and get it plotted out in advance.  I think writing is one of those things that I tend to put off as I can't talk/listen to music with lyrics/watch TV etc while doing it, unlike when I'm doing crafts.  But I really need to get some of these things written so this seems a good motivator.  I'd love to hear if anyone else is joining in.

I know that feeling!  Oh well, I'll give it a go and hopefully at least get a good start on one of my YA books.

I didn't see another of these so thought I'd start one!  My Secret Santa sent me a hand-covered notebook with a marker that has a gorgeous ceramic bead on the end, owl embellishments (I love owls), and a mini set with tags, wood embellishments, glitter and ribbons.  I'll try to get a photo up tomorrow!  Thanks, Secret Santa.

PS. I forgot to check sender details for clues before I threw out the envelope!

I've been good!  We used to open a present after midnight on Christmas Eve which was fun - I always chose my Judy annual so I'd have something to read in bed.   No annuals this year but I might open a little something at midnight.  I think next year I'll get myself one of the old annuals I had - Mandy or Judy - and open it at midnight; it would be nice to do that again.

AbstractAstra reacted to Elizajane in Sewing machine advice please
Your best bet is find a shop that sells machines and try one .I've had 3 Brother machines over a period of 48 yrs each one is still going. . Passed on to family when I went for newer model. .first two were front bobins new one is a top loading which I Went for as I have arthritis and was finding the front loading fiddly...not had any tangling issues with the top loader....for freeform work you need to be able to lower the feed dogs this is a switch on base of machine. ..special feet are usually purchased separate although you can work without .remove the foot but remember to still lower the foot lever as this engages the sewing mechanism. ... you can find video on-line telling how to machine embroidery or quilt.

    Good luck and enjoy

I don't know about that.  As soon as I decide to take part in a challenge I get flooded with ideas - I suspect I would mean to just enter the thing I'm doing but end up doing more pieces.  Plus it's so much fun having all the ideas and choosing from them.   Wonder if there will be another challenge before Christmas...

    Thank you both.

I think I need to not sign up for any more challenges till after Christmas now as I have so many other crafty things to get done.  Although if an interesting one comes up I might not be able to resist.

I have two pieces completed so far - both are things I've never done and wanted to try, and one of which was a real challenge and quite emotional for me!  I'm still going with the material as I have more things I want to make.  I love these forum challenges, they always push me to try new things.
