Am feeling quite inspired after reading this thread through properly. I think it’s a great idea to have this on here as we dieters need all the help we can get and ww and sw are expensive.
Think I need to stert making veggie soup reciepes to have at lunch and like the idea of having it available for snacks through the day. Will make some tomorrow I think.

Hope you’re feeling better today June.

I started the Cambridge Diet on the 5th September, (1000 calories a day) the first two weeks I lost 6lb, last week nothing but I didn’t gain either, but that was my own fault, eating the worse thing ever...pork scratchings!!! and having crafty nibbles at other things.  This week I’ve only lost 1lb, but because I’ve been craving something savoury when I go to bed (not pregnant) I’ve been scoffing twiglets, and had a few cappuccinos.  I nearly went on the lighter life diet, but couldn’t afford it at £66 a week. A friend of mine is on that and she’s lost over 4 stone in as many months, she’s on the maintenance programme now and is still losing weight.

I had set myself a target weight, (8.5 stone) but I think I may be too skinny (if you’d seen me before I gained weight you’d understand why I’m saying that) so I think I’ll just aim to get to a size 12.  I have one problem though, I have an ‘apron’ because I had a c-section,(not through choice) when I had my son, so while I have noticed it getting smaller, I know that no amount of excercise is going to get rid of it completely.

Good luck to all my fellow dieters, and thanks June for starting this post (I had tried to look at your diet blog last week) and giving us all your advice and encouragement.

Hi Denyze, You are doing great my friend and even though you feel you have slowed down a bit, its expected after week 2 so you are still doing fab !!! 1000 cals is a low cal diet and so if you have the odd weak moment , dont worry too much as long as it is an (odd) moment because you will still lose weight with the diet being so low.
I think you are right to avoid the expensive diets as the results from any that you follow are always similar so you will do just as well on this one as any smile
The ‘apron’ you talk of is something many women have and as we all go through child birth and various stages as we get older, the scars and the bits and bobs we have are there to show we are women so treat it as part of being a fab lady who went through an experience that scarred and it will as you say reduce but you know what ??? i have birthing scars all over my body now (as well as age ones lol ) and i think i am actuallty proud of them ... they make me , me if you know what i mean

Lol ramble over hehehe ... keep up the good work, ya doing fine Denyze !!!! go girl !!!
Hugs June xxxx

Aww, thankyou so much June.  My OH seemed to think it would disappear, no matter how many times I explained to him.  The only way it got through to him was when I found something online to prove it!!!

Hi

Thanks for this June.  My main prob (other than being a chocoholic) is that currently I don’t have and oven or hob!  I have got a George Foreman and a microwave, other than micro meals have you any idea?

Much appreciated
Phillipa x

Hi Philippa, have you tried using the george forman for things like

grilled fish fingers, salmon or tuna steaks, chicken or quorn steaks, sausages etc /
Maybe accompany them with some jackets from micro, baked beans, sphaggetti or rice noodles. Also you could make up a curry or chilli mix and add to things you have cooked, maybe chopped lean beef, chicken etc that you cook in the micro or your g/foreman then add the sauce afterwards. Do various rice mixes using frozen rice and adding your own fave veggies ?
Hope these ideas help

Vampirefaerie - 01 October 2008 10:57 AM

wow what a great idea for a thread. I’ve just started weight watchers and lost 2lbs last week. I think I need to loose around 3 stone, (always been on the big side) but taking little steps and see how I go. I’d like to loose a stone by xmas and then make a new gol for after then.
My problem is my sweet tooth and no matter what I try the weight comes off then goes back on! So hoping ww helps.
Its weigh in tonight so hopfully I’ll have some more good results but the chocolate has been calling or me this week so I doubt it lol.

Vamp

Hi Vamp. firstly, well done on your weight loss !!!! Good luck on the weigh in at ww. Let us know how you do please ?

Sweet tooth ??? Ok well i will make a post on that subject later but before i do, i have something i use when i am really needing chocolate and nothing else will do. Its Nestle’s Finesse, ‘Heavenly chocolate’ bars. I am not kidding they are really yummy and only 90 cals each so wont cost a lot on your points at ww. Don’t buy any normal choc in just buy these if you can and if you really need a fix they are magic.
Ok hope it helps for now and will add the article i wrote a bit later
Hugs June xxxx

Thanks for that.

I have always avoided rice, potatoes other than jackets and bread and pasta when loosing weight as always told carbs bad, protein good.  Like the idea of some of the above though (except curry & chilli as don’t like these).

SUGAR CRAVINGS
(c) J. Macfarlane 2006

Sugar cravings are often part of a vicious circle. What we need to do to solve the problem of getting over sugar cravings is to put a stop to the cravings as they occur.

Do you recognise this scenario? : You had lunch a couple of hours ago and have been busy all day. Suddenly you feel tired and need a cuppa and feel that you could kill for something sweet. You put the kettle on and get out the biscuits and demolish half a pack of whatever is available. Then you feel guilty and hide the evidence. The craving is sated and you go back to work but an hour later you have that craving again…

If you have been there and know that feeling then you have been in the sugar craving cycle that doesn’t seem to end but it can. Here is how :

When you get the first pangs of a sugar craving you need to do something about it.
1/ DO NOT IGNORE IT
2/ REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE HAVING THIS CRAVING BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS TIRED YOU NEED TO SOLVE THIS BY EATING CARBOHYDRATES ( sweets and candy are carbohydrates but they are ‘simple Carbohydrates’ .. you need to avoid these and instead eat ‘Complex carbs )
3/ CHOOSE SOME COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES TO REGULATE YOUR BLOOD SUGARS AND CALM THE CRAVINGS

OK now I have the solution for you and I have shared this with so many people over the years and it always has brought great results and many thanks. IT WORKS EVERY TIME - Here is what to do :

EAT SOMETHING FROM THIS LIST - THEN (VERY IMPORTANT)DRINK SOME WATER AND WAIT TEN MINUTES - THE CRAVING WILL BE GONE.

LIST OF FOODS TO TRY INSTEAD OF SWEETS

1/ two small/medium eating apples
2/ a handful of breakfast cereal or breakfast cereal in a bowl with a little skimmed milk
3/ some baked beans (preferably low sugar) on a slice of wholemeal toast
4/ one pear and one apple or orange
5/ some rice or pasta (pasta or rice salads straight from the refrigerator are good)
6/ a bowl of tinned pears with a teaspoon of honey
7/ baked, boiled or dry roasted potatoes or some made up mashed potatoes
8/ a bowl of low fat rice pudding
10/ canned pasta in tomato sauce (preferably low sugar)

or any combination of the above - If you are dieting you may need to fit these items into your diet but it is worth it as you will steady your blood sugar levels and prevent a major upset by over-eating simple carbs like biscuits, cakes, chocolate, etc
