Try getting a fairly inexpensive quilling board (made of cork, with circles and sometimes other shapes on it to use as guidelines) as that makes it a lot easier when you are starting out. You can also pin your coils to the board while they are drying, to stop them coming unglued. And get a decent quilling tool- these only cost a quid or two, or you can make one by hammering a tapestry needle into a dowel handle, and filing off the end of the needle eye to make 2 small prongs (hope that makes sense!). Kits are good too, as they are really good at explaining step by step the different shapes, fringing, etc. Dont give up!!
