Awwww, that is really cute. It will make a lovely 1st birthday gift. Keep stitching and it will soon be done.
I know how difficult it is though, I was asked to design and stitch a picture of my son’s primary school as a retirement gift for the premises officer. It took me almost a year to complete and by the time I’d stitched another two (one for the head nursery teacher’s retirement and another one surrounded by 5 local scenes for the headmaster’s retirement.) my son was in his last year at the school and I felt like I never wanted to cross another stitch ever again. 
I still make my own designs though but I spend more time on card making, painting and a few other hobbies these days.
