Since the first diary-style musings appeared across the internet, the art of blogging has become a real phenomenon. People of all cultures, views and professions from all over the globe are sharing their thoughts on everything from the latest news to daily events in their personal lives. Even celebrities are getting in on the act, with the likes of Britney Spears, Victoria Beckham and Avril Lavigne documenting their Hollywood lifestyles or most recent release through conversational text. It’s a brilliant way to put yourself in someone else’s shoes or browse the thoughts of a like-minded individual.
Us crafters are embracing the idea with gusto too, seeing it as an opportunity to display our personal design showcases, discuss tricky projects or have a general chit chat about recent events. If you’re new to the online journal revolution, don’t be daunted by what can seem like a lot of confusing techno spiel, instead grab a cuppa and read on; you’ll be tapping away at the keyboard in no time.
The term ‘blog’ comes from the original word weblog which simply describes a collection of passages of text, posted online in a chronological order. The content of a blog can vary from brief paragraphs to in-depth, almost essay-like entries and can be updated as frequently as the author desires. If you’re worried about expressing views or talking about private events on the internet, no personal information need be revealed as many writers use a nickname, just like members on a forum.
Creating a blog is really straight forward and, if you change your mind, it can be deleted at any time. For more inspiration, you can catch up with the entertaining selection of blogs that are updated regularly by our very own forum members. You can even leave a comment on their latest anecdote or take the plunge and start your own. Simply click on the ‘Blogs’ section on the hompage, or select the ‘forum’ tab from the top of the page and then ‘blogs’ on the smaller menu that appears above the grid.
Please note, you have to be a member of the 'forum' to start a blog. Registration is completely free and takes seconds, click on the forum tab to get started.
