Suzie how was the beading? For a future project I want to knit the bolero (without checking, I think June LK) and fancy a try. In that pattern you thread the beads directly on to the yarn you're using.
Hmmm - the beading. Well if you pre-thread the beads on (I've done this before for a scarf) then its a lot off fuss in the beginning but the placing of the beads is easier. Just make sure your bead has a big enough hole to accomodate the yarn easily otherwise I can be a pain. Oh and bear in mind you have to keep moving all the beads along the yarn as you knit and if they're a bit tight they can stretch your wool.
For the headband I used the crochet hook method where you put the bead on an ultra thin crochet hook then pull an individual stitch through the bead with the hook. Two problems arose - 1 the hook was so fine it snagged at the yarn trying to pull through and 2 my beads didn't really have holes big enough to comfortably accomodate DK yarn.
Don't let this put you off though as it really does enhance your work but it is also good to be aware of any problems that may arise
Well I think that this challenge has pulled out some really great work...Suzie, I think your ball of bright pink is actually growing itself back in between projects .
And Sharon, lovely detail...
I was going to say exactly the same thing, because it does!!!!
sharon, lovely bag i'm going to knit one of those (one day), glad your daughter likes it
su2ie, absolutely lovely too - well done for challenging yourself with a couple of first time things!
Here is my entry. The cardi is modular knitted in a soft inexpensive verigated yarn and the worse bit was sewing in all the long ends as each diamond is knitted by picking up stitches from the previous one. It was trial and error as I made up the design as I went along. Oh and I have enough yarn from the ball to knit a pair of mittens.

Thank you for the nice comments.
Emmilou modular knitting is like a walk in the park, if you can count you can knit it. It is based on a square and the quarters that make it up. The size of the square obviously depends on how many stitches you work with. An example is cast on 23sts, k first row and alternate rows, row 2) k10, s1, k2tog, psso, k10. row4) k9, s1, k2tog, psso, k9, repeat these rows decreasing in the centre as row 2 and 4, till there are 3st left, k3tog. Don't cast off this stitch but pick up another 10st from the side of first square then cast on another 12sts (23sts) and start the process again. If you want to do diamonds it is just as easy.
Buzy Lizzy. You are right it is Hobby Craft yarn and cost me all of 79p. I can't let you have a copy of the pattern as I made it up and adjusted it as I went along, unfortunately I didn't write it down but intend knitting another and doing so. If you PM me with your e-mail address I will send it to you when I do. It may take a while as I am busy with another project at the moment.
Finally got the piccie sorted for the challenge - & surprise surprise it's a teapot jumper!!! I think I'll call this one "FlowerBasket" as the bottom is basket stitch & the top st.st. It took 35g of dk & odds & ends from my stash for the flowers.
