Just found this thread, some yummy recipes, will have to try.

I used to do marble cakes for the kids birthday cakes years ago.  They used to be very popular with all their friends.

I have just found a recipe for a chocolate cake, but you put beetroot!!! in it.  When I’ve tried it will let you know and post the recipe.

beetroot in cakes is for the sweetness my daughter is vegan and she bakes things with the oddest of ingredients lol . i used to bake for a cafe and when you bake in bulk at home it takes the pleasure of eating it away!! i might just be tempted back in the kitchen after reading this thread !! x

Great thread , just spotted it..
I love baking but don’t seem to have as much time lately!
Baked my usual for the restaurant last night!
Would love to try something new.
I do a really quick cheesecake which is delicious:

Digestive biscuit base mixed with butter
Philadelphia cheese, whipped cream and icing sugar (mixed together)
top it off with blitzed strawberries (or whatever you prefer)

I always make it for my youngests birthday party which is coming up soon ( birthday 30 July)
and it ‘s always very successful with the guests! Very quick to put together and best of all no cooking

Keep the recipies coming please!

Well made my chocolate cake with the beetroot this morning, sorry couldn’t take a phot as non left, only crumbs.  Must be good.  My youngest daughter and family have been and tried it and DH and I have had some.  I must say I was surprised at how nice it was. as it looked ever so pinkie when I put the beetroot in.
Well here is the recipe:-  50gm (2oz) cocoa powder, 175gm(6oz) plain flour 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 200gm(7oz) castor sugar, 250gm cooked beetroot, 3 medium eggs, 200ml (7fl oz) sunflower oil, 100g dark chocolate (finely chopped) and icing sugar to serve.

Preheat oven to 180 C/160 C fan/Gas 4, then grease and line the bottom of 23cm (8 1/2 - 9in) spring form cake tin.  Sieve the cocoa. flour, baking powder and sugar into a large mixing bowl.

Drain and halve the beetroot, then blend in a food processor.  With the machine running, add the eggs one at a time, then pour in the oil.  Blend the mixture until the liquid is just smooth.

Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix in the chocolate.  Pour into the tin and cook for 45 mins or until a skewer comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and set aside for 10 mins, then turn out and leave to cool.  Dust the cake with icing sugar before serving.

Hope you all enjoy this healthy chocolate cake, I think it is fab.

Danielle, my dear GD printed a recipe from the internet last week for ‘Everything-but-the-kitchen-sink choc chip cookies’ and of course we had to make them.
Well I couldn’t believe all that went in them but they were absolutely delicious. She has gone away for the weekend in the caravan and she took most of them with her, but I bet they didn’t last long though.
