Give Mother’s Day cards a folksy feel with our cute designs

The fabled Matryoshka doll is the inspiration for this gorgeous paper crafted set designed by Cathie Shuttleworth. In Russia the dolls are made from wood and nested inside each other in decreasing sizes. The first one is usually a woman dressed in the classic sarafan, a long and shapeless peasant dress. The figures inside can be male or female, the smallest and innermost one being a baby worked from a single piece of wood. The dolls often follow a theme, aside from the typical peasant girls we are used to seeing, to fairytale characters or Soviet leaders. So, get your scissors at the ready and design your own take on this quintessential Russian classic.
